    I was a sucker for a dealer telling me that I needed brakes at 100K. I replaced them myself but i guess I could have got to 150-175K. Last week at 196K I pulled the drums after fighting with backing them off just to look. I noticed the wear on the drums and since I already had them off I just replaced them. I still think I could have gone another 50K+ before the shoes would have hit the drums.

    I’ve always heard that by regularly using the parking brake allows the self adjustment to work more efficiently. I’m not sure that’s true or not by I used the PB in my Tacoma and my wife’s Camry all the time, primarily because it puts less stress on the auto transmission.
