My "new to me" Tacoma is solid overall. 2012, 86k miles, 4L V6... It's pretty much perfect but... When I'm accelerating with the AC on I get a god awful intermittent belt squeal noise. As soon as I turn the AC off the belt noise stops?

Also, when I turn right at low speeds (to enter a driveway or a parking lot) the driver's side front tire makes a loud "clunk" noise. Only when going over a bump while turning though.. I'm assuming suspension? The tire size is stock so I would not assume it's rubbing the wheel well.. any thought on that?

Pic for attention.. Thanks in advance for your input ! 20250801_205851.jpg

    Welcome to Tacoma World.

AC belt squeal is some possible combination of AC clutch, serpentine belt, belt tensioner, and/or idler pulleys. Most likely the belt, have seen several aftermarket brands that squeal more often than not or if your belt is worn out that'll do it.

"Clunk" sound could be anything but us internet detectives would just be making guesses. If tire size is truly stock you shouldn't be rubbing the wheel well. Only way to find out is get in there and inspect for worn out parts or loose nuts and bolts.

    Good luck with troubleshooting.

I had a clunk on the front right side that I thought was the radiator support bushings, based off reading stuff online here and confirming they were completely shot. Sadly, that didn't fix, but was a good place to start. It ended up being where my sway bar mounts to the spindle. It was loose, but you could only tell when the sway bar was completely tension free so it took me quite awhile to diagnose.

But as @wi_taco said, it could be soooo many things. Just gotta get under there and look, and take a look both on the ground and jacked up.

    The tires are 265/70/R16...

For the AC I'm going to replace the serp belt and check the tensioners/pulleys. I'm curious if it may be the compressors clutch plate as well. I'll update when I have a solution. Thanks for your input

if you havent already grease the 5 zerk fittings on your truck

you could put some paint pen mark up on your cab mount and see if thats where the rub is happening, or you might be able to tell just by looking at it now

For the rubbing, check the plastic clips and screws in the wheel wells and the lower front bumper. I knock shot loose and get rubbing all the time. Can't wait for my new bumper to show up.
