    Hi everyone,
Looking for advice. Where is this oil coming from? I suspect the oil pan gasket but there is oil up higher as well. I'm guessing its all coming from higher or are there are two leaks I need to address? Could it be transmission oil or is this all engine oil?

    Thank you,
    Blake

I would also guess rear main based on pics.

Looks like it’s just oil. Possibly rear main or the oil pan gasket. With wind turbulence possibly spreading it above?

Have you been checking the oil levels? Have you seen noticeable differences between oil changes?

I’d get it into a trusted shop as soon as possible to get a firm diagnosis. Seems like a bit of a concerning leak.

If it's a rear main seal, it must have exploded. Oil all the way at the top of the bellhousing. Jeeze....

I doubt it exploded. Remember the crank and flex plate are spinning. This spinning slings oil all around. This is why you see it up so high on the split line between the block and trans.

I just took my ‘19 in today with the same oil leak. It is the main rear seal. About a week to repair. Don’t wait.

Toyota says it's two leaks, rear main seal and oil pan. Say they have to take the engine out to fix it and quoted around $6k with parts and 35 hrs labor... Thoughts? I live in Bishop and we have a dealership but maybe a bigger city like Reno or SD would not charge so much for the same job?

That looks like the rear main for sure. The oil pan maybe but I would clean it up and verify first. Just had a vehicle at work that had a massive oil leak and was diagnosed as pan gasket... so it was replaced 3 times!!! I steamed the hell out of it, took it for a nice long drive and confirmed it was just the rear main... for me, the give away was the starter leaking oil.

I guess the starter oil level could have been high...

That's rear main, and maybe lower pan. You don't need to pull the engine to reseal the lower pan. Clean it down really good. Drive it for a few days and check. Then take it to another dealer for the rear main replacement.

Not the exact same. These 3rd gen frames come waxed in the box section from the factory and sealer used on the open c section joints to prevent frame rust. The frame in the 3rd gen uses more areas of high strength steel

Pretty damn identical and still have rust issues lol.

Not trying to be a dick but don't throw shade at 2nd gen trucks when you're on your 6th 3rd gen because of issue after issue.

My 2nd gen went to 140k with not one single issue.
