Seen a CV axle break this way?

Dude, your fucking didf tube broke. That's a whole nother level there. What was the situation in which that happened?

 

I was just driving offroad with the front diff locked, the diff tube is the weak link on these trucks.

 

Damn, just toodling along, and snap.

 

you may note the time it happened was on film briefly after the 5 minute mark

 

Broke a Honda civic axle similarly. Clean break. Except mine happened inside the trans/diff. I thought the transmission failed so I went ahead with my manual trans swap I always wanted. Come to find out the piece of axle was in the trans, popped right out.

 

You trailering g that thing yet, or you still driving it to it destination?

 

i drive it there and back, to get home for this I had to cut the half shaft and put a big zip lock bag around the differential. Life support at its finest.

 

Damn. I've thought about carrying some 2wd hubs with me for something like this to happen. Last CV break I had before this one, the outer bearing assembly spit out all the ball bearings and was able to just yank both assemblies out and drive like that.
