My inner DIY'er is cringing at the fact that I'm considering having my ULK 3" kit installed by a shop. I've always liked working on my own vehicles and this being my first brand new truck I think it would be easier compared to past efforts.

I recently saw this self serve garage that lets you rent a bay, with or without a lift, to do any kind of work on your own vehicle. You can even rent tools or a mechanic to assist you by the hour. Seems like a sweet deal to save some cash and still get to do it myself. Anyone ever use one of these places? Seems to be a handful in my area.

We have them on all the military bases. They are good if you know what your doing the people there can't help due to liability reasons. But its like 7 bucks an hour for a lift bay.

I haven't used one of the commercial DIY places but like @kpla51 I've used the hobby shop on a military base. It's nice have a lift instead of jack stands and there is access to lots of tools that are nice to have. If you are going to do it I would call ahead and make sure that all the tools you might need are available, a wall mounted spring compressor is a big help. Between the how to's here and some advice from a mechanic there you should have no problems.

Yeah the liability concern is my biggest issue with the idea. I'm sure they have some mechanics on hand that can handle helping me with the install of this type of kit. But I may need to bring some people with me for the extra set of hands. I'd hate to have it halfway apart and they can't touch it without more paperwork or money or something like that. With it being my daily driver I can't have it down for too long. I've got the tools I'd need. I'm most in need of extra hands and some experience with tacomas. Definitely don't want to tackle it myself.
