Sell back TDi for a 3rd Gen?

My last VW was an 88 Golf I bought brand new, was a great car, after 11 years and 200,000 Miles some asshat hit and ran me and it got totaled. My ex has a 2010 Jetta about to eclipse 200,000 Miles and has been pretty solid too outside of a few minor things here and there.

 

I'm in the same boat. I currently have a '15 Passat that I am ready to unload. The gas mileage is great, but you lose all your fuel savings in the maintenance costs that VW charges. Especially anything with the DSG transmission. The previous 5 cars I owned before purchasing the VW were all Toyotas. I was used to the maintenance costs for Toyota and just assumed that VW would be pretty close to the same. That will teach me not to do my homework before buying next time. Maintenance costs were easily 5 times higher than what I was accustomed to. I've already been looking for its replacement. I have also been considering the new Tacoma, but with all my highway driving, the highlander would make more sense for me. Unfortunately, the highlander just doesn't excite me.
