Thinking about getting a MAGNAFLOW CAT BACK system for my 2009 MT 4x4 (4.0L)...

For $600 will i be happy? Some posts have said the cabin noise is actually too loud? as well as loosing back pressure?

I go with the stainless setup to prevent rust. The reviews on the sound of these systems seem good....

Will i actually loose torque by changing the back pressure....Ive read a lot of posts where people end up putting their OEM exhaust back on...

Nervous about spending the $600 just to be unhappy....If you OWN a magna flow or have experience with one on the 4.0 TACO please chime in.....thanks!

Had a magnaflow, didn't like it. The 18" was a little quieter than I wanted. But for some people, that's what they want. I'd recommend going to a meet to hear everyone else's set up, then deciding. It's a lot different on another car, and audio clips don't really do any justice.

Also, why spend $600? A local shop did this for me for half the price. Custom piping, and dual out (so two set of pipes, and two tips)

Price seems way high for a catback, 400-450 seems closer to what you should pay.

If you just want the sound, buy the muffler only and have it welded in. That should only be about 150. The catback only gives you the ability to install it yourself.

my magnaflow sounds amazing (according to me) with the right supporting mods like headers, y pipe, and a small resonator you get a killer sound spend another 400 on some used headers and y pipe you wont be disappointed!

    Too few to list.
Skip the catback and just choose a muffler.

Is the magnaflow 2.25" or 2.5". I've looked at the aero but I was told my stock piping is 2.25" and the aero is 2.5. Does the aero sound that much better?

I have a magnaflow on my 5lug MT. It sounds good at low revs 1-3, but when it gets higher than that I dont like how "show off" it is. I suggest going for a throatier exhaust that isn't as loud. I guarantee you- it is very loud and always turns heads though.

The magnaflow is 2.5", and so is the aero turbine. My old 18" magnaflow was too quiet for me, so I ended up with the aero turbine and glad I made the switch. The aero sounds so much better... But in the end it all comes down to personal preference

Aside from sounds and the personal preferences for different brands, are there performance improvements to be gained in going from 2.25 to 2.5?

I think that there were some dynos (vendor dynos though) that showed 3-5hp at the high end with a 2.5" catback and free flow muffler. Hard to know if that is from the piping or the muffler though.

IMO, your expectation should be nothing but sound. Unless you go FI, a 2.5 or 3.0 catback probably can't be utilized. Maybe if you stay NA and add headers and Y pipe too, there is some.
