Why in the world would you want a hybrid? It seems to be a fad now but I would not want to get rid of a tried and true engine to save a few gallons of gas.

Yes this 4th gen senerio sounds like the bronco launch. Promise the world and deliver only lower trims. High ADMs and long waits. All the info isn't in yet on this 4th gen. Hybrid trucks thus far haven't lived up to the hype, only govt rules. This gen 4 is going to be heavy, hence all the composite, aluminum material. You are always going to be carry battery weight plus everything else needed for at best afew mpg

    Ok Chicken Little.....

For the OP, keep the 3rd gen truck at least a year or two after the 4th gen hits the dealerships, Use that time for them to get the bugs get worked out and trim levels sorted. Supply chains are still not where they used to be and until there are a bunch or 4th gens in the dealership lots you can expect to see "market adjustments" added to the new model for those people that always need to rush out and have the latest thing.

I think many 2nd gen owners are going to be first in line to buy the 4th gen trucks so that generation might see a dip in resale values.

Na. I want a 4th gen even less then I want a 3rd. The first in line will be the guys just like the op. The ones that feel the need to have the newest thing whether it’s an actual improvement over what they currently have or not.

This. Sell it while you know the value is great. The 2024 will be better in every way, especially in the power delivery department.

Same advice my grandfather gave me 50 years ago. Wait till at least 2025 and 2026 for the hybrid. I bought the ‘22 because Gen-3 is finally about as robust as it will get.

Your battery efficiency is not what it was new, declining about 2.3% each year.
And will you spend the money to replace it ?
And now the turbo replacement on top of it.

sell. buy a 2023+ Tundra. Had a Gen 2 Tacoma, have a Gen 3 Tacoma = way better than a Gen 2. Tundra next.

Keep your truck and pay it off if it isn't already paid. Wait a few years and get the new Taco. You’ll have 2 Tacos and you can Thank me later.

Trading a 2 - 3 year old Toyota makes little sense to me unless that vehicle just doesn’t fit the need. One of their strongest traits is long term reliability and low depreciation. Keep it 10 - 15 years, wind some miles up on it, and enjoy not having a monthly vehicle payment.

    +1

I've made changes to mine that I would not want to change back...hence, keeping it for the long haul.

Once paid off, that makes the deal even sweeter!
