let me start off by saying I love my taco and I want to drive it to the ground but I was looking at other 2016 tacos on autotrader and I cannot believe how expensive these things are even with like 10-20k miles. For an example there is a 2016 off-road with 10k miles selling for 36k from a GM dealer. What is wrong with people. I didn't even buy mine at that price new.....any of you have similar story and are thinking about selling your car and make a quick profit?

There is a difference between asking and selling price.

Those prices asked at dealers of course are retail and pricing is very regional in nature it seems..I find it hard to believe selling it privately will gain big returns. My old truck I traded two months ago is still sitting on the dealer lot, and they have dropped the price 5-6 times. It's at $29,800, not much more then what they gave me. I guess if you found the right buyer, and all the stars aligned then you could come out ok, but make a profit??

I'm sure the used one with 10k miles has the premium tech and sound and yours does not. A lot of people over look that $4000 difference when they brag about how good of a deal they got.

They can ask however much they like. Don't mean they will get it though.

I'll be cycling through some of my favorite pics.

This one will run through the end of the year. I prefer black and white, also.

    None.
My truck was listed for 36K at a Dodge Dealership and I could have ordered a new one for less so I talked them down to $34,900 for the Off Road with 1200 miles on it. You would probably just break even or make about $1000. I'd just rather keep my truck and work a little harder for the cash.

And unless you didn't pay sales tax you will most definitely sell for a net loss.

The most commonly used sales technique is the "I screwed the dealer, got them down $XXXX" scheme.

The dealer sets an inflated price and often makes the sale at a point still above market value, new or used.

It isn't just on Tacoma, look at any dealership. They will prominently display a clean low mileage used unit just at the perimeter of the large selection of new vehicles.

The subliminal message the customer has is... "Fuck that, I can buy a new one for the same or less!"
Why do the dealers do this? The very simple reason is misdirection. The mental control technique bypasses the decision on whether to buy or not and goes into negotiating the best deal.

Do not under estimate how important and effective that is.

My Tacoma MSRP was around 32k. 2 months later I trade it with about 6k miles. Few weeks later i found it for sale for 38K.

I traded in a 13' Challenger R/T 6-Speed Manual. I bought it for 26.6k, Traded it in for 24k with 5,400 miles in 2015. They sold it 4 days later for 31.5, and then the new owner put leather seats nav and a new stereo, out the door 35.9K.

Couldn't believe it till I saw the paperwork.

I thought 24k trade in was good, I drove 60 miles to do it, local dealers would only give me 19k.

Sometimes dealers get the high asking prices simply because people do not do their homework.

You did well my friend. Honestly no one will ask for more than what they paid for but maybe once a while one of us will get lucky.
