    [IMG]Hello,

I'm sadly selling my 1997 Tacoma, (baby on the way, its time for a minivan)!
Aside from a few dents, its in great condition.
    See photo below!

I'd like to get 5k for it, is that reasonable?
I'm new to this site and have never sold a used car before.
    Would love some suggestions!

    Here are the specs:

    107K miles
    Regular cab
    4 Cyl
    2.4 L Engine
New breaks and A/C as of last year

    Thank you!!!

That's a little high for your 5-lug. You might get $4k. With the basics of what you have listed, it kbb's at $3775 in excellent condition.

Don't go by kbb. It does not represent the going rate for these trucks. I say ask for more than 5. I just sold my 2wd 94 with 125k miles for $4400. I had it listed for 5 and had about 20 calls in the first week. Most people just wanted to call me up and tell me I had it overpriced, but it didn't take long to get someone who was serious and had cash. It had an extended cab which would bring more money, but the body was not in as good as shape your truck is in. If you want to get 5, ask for 6. If you ask for 5, your only going to get 4 something. If you list it for 6 and nobody bites, then you can lower it. It you list it for 5, nobody is going to show up at your door and offer you more. You can list it for free on craigs list and cars.com. Autotrader is a joke and will only cost you money.

    Thanks for the info!

Yes, I think I could get more than KBB because there seems to be quite a demand for Tacomas. I was looking around at prices for comparable trucks and 5k seemed possibly reasonable for mine.

Actually I see very few late 90s Tacomas for sale at all...I considered that a good sign as well!

And, this brings me to another question. What's the best way to go about selling it? Craigslist, Ebay motors? I trust and like my mechanic very much...I was thinking about having him help me sell it, maybe he could put the word out, and I could give him 10% of whatever it sells for?

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

i got my 1997 tacoma with a 2.7l extra cab 4wd new tires brakes. ac worked and had a camper shell for 4500 out the door at a dealership. my cousin was the manager so i got a good deal, but look on craigslist in your area and see what they are going for. i think you would be lucky to get 4.

dont pay someone 10%. you will rip your self off. put it on craigslist your self. start at 5 and go a couple hundred lower per week. 6k you will not get a single call
