Hope this is the right place to ask...but I'm going to sell my 2011 Taco. It has 17k miles, only additions are a Thule toolbox and I bought a color matched grill to get rid of some of the fugly chrome. No scratches, dents, etc. Interior looks great besides the seats not looking quite a new. KBB says 28k in excellent condition if sold privately - but I'm not sure someone would pay such an amount for a used truck. What are your thoughts?

The problem is that dealers are having really good incentives every now and then so people tend to buy new because they get good deals. You will have to be at least a couple thousand lower than the best deal at the dealer to sell your used truck. Unfortunately you are in that first year where most of the depreciation takes place. However, don't advertise it for lower than what KBB suggest. You can use the KBB to show a prospective buyer that you are on target with what you are asking, and then if he negotiates a little off then he feels good about his purchase and you still make out okay. So, advertise for 28 and hopefuly sell for between 26 and 28.

Very true - if I can't get at least what I owe on it I won't sell it. At least I'm not in a dire situation where I have to sell it.

You can definitely expect to get 28k for a one year old truck....I paid 28k for my 2010. Just put it on craigslist, and don't fall for the low ballers!!

Check your local ads and see what similar rigs go for - CL and Auto Trader. IMO, if KBB/NADA/etc give you a retail # for your area, use it. If someone replies that 28 is too high, inform them of the source for the #'s.

The same truck on Ebay was selling at $25,500 at a used car dealership with less miles, with the exact same options and color as yours. For $28k I could buy a new 2012 truck. You'll be hard pressed to find a buyer at that price.

Yea it's possible you could, but prices vary by region and I don't think the majority of consumers feel secure buying vehicles off eBay...better to start my asking price high than low ya know?

I bought 2 off Ebay, both 1 owner cars, had zero probs with both cars. I just sold one car for $2k less than what I paid for it in 2007 and I put over 20k miles on it.

The trick to making sure you are getting a good deal on Ebay is checking the car fax first and then having it fully checked out at the brand's dealer or an independent mechanic b4 purchase.

You will not get $28k for your truck, $26k at best. Good luck on that.

Cool story bro - I won't ever buy a car off eBay but if that's what you enjoy, go for it. Oh and just an fyi, good luck getting this truck new for 28k - I work for the manufacturer and couldn't score it for much less than that.

I paid $27k for a year-old DCSB Sport 4x4 with 6k on it when I bought mine. Personally, I think $26k is a little optimistic unless you find the perfect buyer. If you can get out of it for $24-$25k, I'd say you were doing pretty good.

Nah Canada Toyota or vehicles are more expensive then the states by a lot and I was offered 23 for it. Truck is immaculate have all the service records and it has some extras and a fully loaded model it's paid off I'm happy with it. I might buy my next truck from the states and save 10,000
