Selling/Shipping advice

Trying to sell my stock grille and bezel, tail lights, and chrome bumper caps. Usually sell locally, never shipped. Just want to know some advice so I don't get screwed over or accidentally screw someone else over. Pics are attached also if anyone is interested.

 

be sure they're packaged very well and also insured. all 3 items are fragile.

I always pay the extra couple of dollars to require signature for delivery. That way they could never say they didn't get their item.

 

I've purchased and sold with many TW members. While local is always preferred, if you make your transactions through PayPal both you and buyer are protected. I'd recommend providing tracking info to your buyers. Just get your post count up to 50 and you're good to go.

 

Well first off welcome to TW, nice truck, and try not to feed the trolls!

I've sold a lot of car parts cross country so I can give you a few pointers.

Packing up all of those things should be pretty easy. What you wanna do is get a crapload of bubble wrap and make sure it's very well padded. Wrap it around a few times and tape the wrap to itself.
Picking a box size is super important, you want something large enough but not cavernous. Once you have the bubble wrapped item, use some crumbled up newspaper to pad the rest of the box. The key is once you close the box, you should be able to shake it pretty vigorously in all directions and not hear the item inside move at all. If it flops from one side to the other, you haven't packed it well enough.

Use UPS or FedEx so there is tracking, it's always good to send your buyer a tracking #. Insurance is usually included, it's a default value based on carrier, but depending on how much you sell an item for you might want to purchase a little extra. You never know, someone might get their package stolen or some BS like that, always good to be able to make a claim that doesn't totally screw anyone over.

If you use paypal, make sure you use "goods & services" - you do pay a fee but that means both buyer and seller have protection at that point. Also why you DEFINITELY want a tracking number because some people do try to scam this way (ask for non-tracked shipping, receive item, make claim, you have no proof of sending & so they keep the item and paypal refunds them the cash out of your pocket)
Technically it's against the paypal TOS to ask for the fee, but if you use http://thefeecalculator.com/ and account for fees in your initial ask it's not...

Only take PayPal and ONLY for family and friends. That means the buyers cannot claim they didn't get the stuff and get a refund. Plenty of scammer buyers out there.
