Wouldnt really notice until you put it back together if you aren’t looking for them. The black pieces we lost cover the springs so you can’t even see them. That’s why I suggested meso edit the install video to mention them. I didn’t take a picture of the problem area, wish I had.

Curious about how difficult the swap is as well. How much are they from the dealer?

He's talking about the internal one. Inside the cab.

Yes. The install is super simple. Follow MESO’s install guide for the puddle pods up to step 1-I and then reinstall the door panels.

I got mine from McGeorge Toyota’s online parts site. Here are the part numbers and price I got them for. Keep in mind part prices fluctuate often, but McGeorge had the lowest cost I could find stateside from a dealership.

Yeah I'll have to look at where I was working real good again I did it at my parents. But I made some little rubber pieces of what I had around and made it work. Probably not as good as stock but dont wanna spend 117$ on a another switch. Definitely spring out during deassembly

Where do the springs go? Do they run parallel with the switch body?

Yes they would be in the body right before the last step you take for chrome piece removal. The last piece deassembled will have the two springs and rubber pieces. Didn't take a picture sorry

is your 4wd dial loose? The springs just give it resistance when you turn it. As you turn it little hills on the inside of the dial slide over the springs, pushing them down and then the spring lands in the valley when you hit the 4h mark. If you can see the springs with it all apart, you lost the little black pieces. If you see empty holes, you lost the spring also. Still functions without them, just loose and doesn’t feel right

I'll have to test it when I get back in the truck. I tested it when I first installed but nothing seemed out of place.

Yep they are super easy. Just pull the door panels off, disconnect the two cables, and the old handles pop out. Pop the new one in, reconnect to cables, and reinstall door panels. I also bought mine on Amazon for $16 and some change apiece.

I pulled the trigger on some eBay ones just now. $30 each as I'm in Canada (~$23 USD shipped). Dealer was closer to $50 (can't remember exactly). Hopefully I can get a few bucks back for the chrome ones, to lower the overall cost of this mod. The wife won't be happy that I spent $100+ on door handles. lol

Good luck on that dude. I didn't figure the dinky chromed plastic ones have any value. Another addition to the pile of useless shit I guess.

You would know if the resistance wasn't there. It's all loose when you turn the dial

yes, you’d know. I felt it before I put it back together but assumed it would be good when put in the dash because I put everything back just as it came out. Only to discover I lost that little spring plug.

Mines still kinda janky but better than no resistance at all. It bothered me so much lol. I did the same thing you did
