I agree completely. This generation seems more caught up with the ephemeral bread and circuses and festooning itself in its vulgar splendour than in anything of value. This is why I seclude myself as much as possible from the influences that abound today; the zeitgeist is rotten and destructive. Enshrouding myself with the works of antiquity, including the Eddas from which my screen-name comes, has kept such influences at bay.

Theres alot of truth to that Jason & your parents are right, my parents always wanted things to be better for us than it was for them (my parents were depression kids, brutal growing up in that era) I think most parents feel this way, that said Parents of the "entitlement kids" have to take some blame also by "giving " their kids all the things they didn't have, thats fine, I wish i had the money to give my 3 girls (& 2 granddaughters)all they could want. The problem is things are given without regard to "earning it" & without that feeling of earning, theres no respect for what was given, next thing you know theres no more comments of thank you, or gratitude or appreciation, its just sticking a hand out expecting it to be filled with maybe a "What else ya got for me" attitude, just my $.02
