i priced one (PRO-4X king cab) out for kicks and giggles couple months ago, mostly because it's the only true competitor that's left to the Tacoma, as well as only other good looking Access/King cab...

from my findings here's some quicks points:
    Frontier king cab Pro 4x
    pros:
a real metal bed as well as better rails and configurations/attachments
more hp/tq more fun to drive 6sp
    nicer stock wheels
    cons:
    dealer service and support lacks
weight, which offsets the nice engine power
steering wheel design, can't get over that design, not to mention the AT version shifter wow fugly, 6sp looks good though
front bumper being one piece including some of the fender flares, definitely not good...
    resale

    Tacoma access TRD (either one)
    pros:
    lighter
    interior flows better
    better looks in certain colors
    better ground clearance
strong dealer service and aftermarket support
    resale
    cons:
    composite bed
6sp not really fun to drive, AT in D anemic programing to save mpg
quality issues or cut corners by cheapening out things (ie: windshield glass weakness, "sound proofing" in doors, gas cap door lock, sheet metal thickness, as well as rusting chrome bumpers...

no vehicle is perfect, they all have their quirks...

ps: at the time of the Nissan sale you could get a king-cab pro4x for $4k less than a TRD access cab

    just my 2cents

Long term durability is the issue...Nissan isn't too bad, but Toyota beats them....I had a 2001 Frontier and our starter truck for the boys is a 2000 frontier...they just don't FEEL as solid as a Toyota...you can feel it in the weight of the door...in the steering wheel....in the way it flexes (too much) when going over rough terrain...had to replace snapped fender rods in mine when I shouldn't have...

Nothin' beats the durability of a Toyota in my mind...do the preventive maintenence and you can drive it until you WANT to get rid of it...My two cents...

I also had 2 Armadas and they were both the biggest POS I have ever owned. The first was an '05, had it for 2 years when Nissan finally bought it back under the lemon law. Like an idiot I gave Nissan a second chance by replacing it with an '08 Armada thinking the quality was going to be better but 1 year later and I had another lemon and Nissan again purchased it back.

girlfriend had a nissan, i hated it, hated driving it, just didnt drive well, and only had 44,000 miles on it before she totalled it lol, my toyota has 83,000 miles runs perfect, my moms old lexus had 105,000 miles wen she traded it in for the same exact car, and the new one drove exactly the same as the new one with only 10 miles on it, my uncle has a toyota and an armada, hates the armada and never drives it getting rid of it next week

point is i will never own a nissan, toyota ftw

Consumer Reports has rated Frontier equal to Tacoma in reliability, that is of no concern in my opinion.

i know this is an old thread but one deal breaker of the nissan is the front diff is an aluminum housing. so no lockers or you will grenade the case. Toyota is rated as the only ifs that can handle the stress of the locker. i forget where i read that but Toyota using ATRAC proves my point. the front diff is tough
