sadly, I've only put Husky Liners in it thus far - tend to blow all my cash on my bikes and guitars.
Sad day Saturday. Was approaching a left turn lane from Rt55 east in Troy Ohio to head NE/East onto Rt718. There were 2 vehicles stopped in the east bound left turn lane waiting on the green arrow to proceed as I started slowing some hundred yards back. Light changes, the 2 leading vehicles make their turn, I had slowed to an elderly 10-15mph to negotiate my left under the same green arrow when some asshat blows the west bound red light and smashes into me at maybe 35'ish. Harsh impact and it spun the truck 90 degrees. Due to the sun reflecting on the right side of my windshield, and the passenger side B-pillar interfering with my peripheral vision, I failed to see him coming until the nose of his late model Accord was almost kissing the front of my truck.

So seething pissed....I dont have the words to elate my boiling fury, aside from the loud and plentiful rant of 4 lettered specimens that I shot across the intersection at him as I stepped out of my now busted ass truck.
That's the moment I saw the carseats in his back seat, and I immediately ran towards his car to check on his infant and toddler. Once we all saw they were fine is when I questioned what the hell he thought he was doing neglecting the road ahead with his kids in the car. He had answers of little value, but ultimately it was his cel phone that was deemed the culprit. Idiot. There are children's lives at stake, not to mention every other life he cared less about while he decided to toy with his phone as he drove along.

Long story short, he lies to the police and states HE HAD THE GREEN LIGHT. Which negates a well-deserved citation, because conveniently enough for him, none of the witnesses stuck around to object but one who couldn't see the traffic lights from his perpendicular view of the intersection. And, of course, there are NO traffic cameras to catch the truth either.

Now, this part is partially my fault, but my collision deductible is at $1k because I don't hit others or other's property....never have. So now I'm looking at a sizey little payment to remind me why I should pay closer attention to my surroundings because others are obviously not. Should've known better, but this was just one of those times when the stars aligned against me and an accident finally happened.
My poor truck may never be the same

A tip would be to get cameras for the front, rear and sides so you have proof of your innocence.

    1. Live and learn. Get a good dash cam with wide angle view.

    2. Everything that broke on your truck has an aftermarket upgrade part available.

Hindsight is definitely kicking me hard. I have 4 GoPro HD cams on our bikes ( for trackday footage review ) that could've caught all of what's in question.....guess where they weren't.

Firstly, your sig pic is absolutely delicious. I already plan to commandeer at least one of the GoPros and a chubby SD card to watchdog with from now on. The truck is already at the bodyshop getting stripped down to assess the damage and get repaired.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
The vehicle in the intersection has the right of way. Charge him with failing to yield and go see a doctor.

You usually have to pay out the deductible up front, but can seek it out from his insurance company. If you don't have the money you can wait out for the insurance payout and get the full cost, including your deductible. This is granted he has insurance, which according to your story he does or you would be pissed on another level.

The insurance company(s) have their own claims adjusters and if anything police reports would speed up the process but aren't always the "know all; be all". Your story versus his/hers typically is how they determine who pays who. Typically if repairs are needed right away the deductible can hurt if you aren't expecting it, but will show up later after the claims department seeks out the deductible for you. These aren't some desk jockeys either, they are lawyers calling their lawyers, filing lawsuits if necessary. Hope this helps! Any questions give me a holler!

    Sorry for your accident :(
When my truck was totaled in December, my insurer (USAA) simply subtracted the deductible from the check they cut me for my total loss.

It's gonna be messy since the other driver is lying. People no longer want to take responsibility for their own actions anymore which makes me sick.

Money isn't an issue, so I plan to go ahead and cover my deductible now to get the repair ball rolling. I involved my agent and insurance provider from the scene and explained the other driver's position, as well as the police report findings. They will pursue his provider and possibly get my money back, as well as their own, but I dont expect any miracles. I'm trying to remain optimistic about it all, but it's tough knowing the other guy is getting by the way he is without reprimand. The principles are what's eating me up. He is playing the system and so far he's winning at it

Thanks, and I'm almost positive this won't be a total loss since the truck still has a much greater value over the damages.

Me too. Humanity and morality is seemingly all but gone.

Exactly. Once I'd seen the kids were fine, I was relieved but it made me angrier that he'd neglected to stay focused on his driving with them in the car

are there not cameras at the drugstore to the left
and cameras at the gas-n-sip on the right
that can show the intersection ?

I say, go and ask and find out from the managers
and if so/.... go to court and work on getting camera evidence

if not this intersection.... then Dorset road must have been the one
    also has businesses with cameras
you can go and ask and check them. big mikes gasngo

Sorry to read this but at least no one was injured. Sadly people are dishonest especially when it comes to wrongdoings. It definitely puts a good dash camera in my future. When I get my truck back that is.......... Maybe by Chistmas.

Option #1: Don't put in dash cam, get screwed by unscrupulous people during an accident

Option #2: Put in dash cam, get car broken into by thieves to steal it

    We just can't win :(
