A few months ago I had the Carrier Bearing replaced on my DCLB 4x4. It was done incorrectly and was immediately fixed at no cost to me for a fresh out of the box OEM Driveshaft and was put on at no cost to me as well. Even after the fix and now going back to stock and all brand parts and tires it’s still there. My first question is I noticed on the new replacement driveshaft that on each end there is a yellow mark on the flange, now I’m wondering would there also be a mark on the flange where it connects to the rear differential and the flange of the transfer case? The past week I have been under the truck torquing everything and I mean everything. Everything seems to be torqued properly except I can’t do the rear flange of the differential as it’s hard to get any tools on. I will get some flexible head sockets so I can torque it properly. But my biggest question is were those yellow marks on the new driveshaft supposed to line up with a mark on the front and rear flanges? These pics are the ends of the new driveshaft that I would think would be on there to match up to something maybe. Please help as it feels like my truck is driving on railroad ties. The faster I go the worse it gets all the way up to 90 MPH. A5F94A00-FAA7-4188-BC18-86C71B1EC443.jpg 39F552D7-E4AB-4DAE-83B5-AE97B37075E4.jpg

No all that is for is phasing the ujoints on the DS to make sure they are all aligned. They also help in case the DS comes apart at the slip yoke you make sure the yellow dots are on the same side. As far as the vibrations go are the U-joints lubed? Was this vibration the reason you have the CB replaced?

The new driveshaft has sealed u joints. Carrier Bearing was removed as I went back totally stock. Can the bolts be overnighted where the flange meets the rear diff? A breaker bar was used to tighten them as a torque wrench wasn’t readily available to the guy?

Yeah but that's not going to cause the vibration you describe. Does the DS appear to have any welded on discs or anything?

Could be the DS angle is wrong.

It does have weights and is balanced. The driveshaft is at stock angle

So should I buy some washers and longer bolts and do trial and error of the Carrier Bearing?

One (long shot) thing to look at. I had a car that had the carrier bearing installed backwards. It caused vibrations until they reversed it (under warranty).

:notsure: It was done under warranty. That’s what I was told, vibration went away, gone. I was happy.

are you lifted? your going to need to measure driveline angles if you are and see if thats your issue. the yellow dot is used at the factory to make sure all the joints are properly aligned. thats it.

Should the front yellow dot match the rear yellow dot placement and I’m not lifted

Meaning I could draw a straight line from the front yellow dot to the rear yellow dot

i believe they should. BUT i wouldnt be so focused on those yellow dots. look at how the u joints line up. this is what matters most. Very rare for factory parts to be made wrong.

Why would they be out of phase if it’s new

IF for whatever reason the shop that installed it messed with the u joint or let the yoke fall out of the splines on the rear part of the shaft.

i've seen it happen, and it created horrible vibrations just like you describe
