man that sucks to hear.. what exactly is it about these alternators that makes them so easy to take out??? i know muddy water is tough on them but dang on these 2nd gens it seems to be really easy to ruin one.

Pull the belt tensioner and slip the belt off. Undo the electrical post. Undo the bolts. Bend the metal pipe out of the way and pull the alternator out. I did it in the woods are URE and in the dealership parking lot. The alternators are very open. I dunno if all the venting lets mud in easily and it just eats the brushes or exactly where the design flaw is. I do know that crawling through mud is the best way to minimize your chances. That being said I used to fly through mud in my 07 and never had any problems. The more problems this 09 gives me the more i miss my old truck. Even if new truck has all the bells and whistles I wish old truck had.
