Was showing my dad the engine bay while under idle and he pointed out that part is not supposed to "wobble" he claims the bearing must be bad
Should I take it in ?
Not sure if it is designed that way

Figured I'd ask here before I look like an ass at the dealer

Was the engine running when this Was pointed out to you? Movement in an up and down fashion is normal on auto tensioner pulley's.

Sideways is not at all and requires replacement in short order.

It should NOT wobble, OR go up and down.... should be very smooth... If in doubt, check the bolt (tighten) that holds it on and the go to the dealer..!!

Like stated above that pulley should not “wobble” but it is designed to take slack out of the belt and keep it tight so it will move a little but not wobble.

I've had two 2017s and they both do the same thing. Usually tensioner pulleys that are going bad also make noise and mine are silent. Never figured it was an issue.

As the other guys have already said, it's designed to have a little movement but there should be no wobbling, I would be taking it in to the Dealer.

Took it to the dealer, they told me I'd have to leave it there and they wont even look at it until Monday
I told them no way, looked at a new truck on the lot and had the sales guy start it up.
Same movement on the new truck
If it fails it fails my warranty will be on time not mileage
Just under a year old and 4700 miles

Yes exactly that, a truck on the lot with 3 miles was doing the same so it must be normal

Yeah - Mine do it too. No noise so there isn't a bearing problem.

My 17 also wobbles. Raised the hood 1 mile after the dealer and noticed it.
