So I’m at 140k on my ‘07 and I notice a squeal when my truck is cold in the morning. It goes away when the truck warms up though.

I haven’t noticed much if any wear but the squeal has me slightly concerned. Your thoughts??

replace or don’t... that is the question.

is the 35 bucks to replace a 140k mile 13 year old belt worth your frustration when your current one goes south.

You need to pull the current belt off and spin everything by hand anyways to make sure things are still smooth and tight (which could cause squeaking if they are not).... so may as well pop a new belt on and save the old one while you are at it.

At that age and mileage I’d replace the belt and all three idler pulleys with OEM.

What he said. Dude just replace it. Even if it wasn’t squeaking, at 140000 miles and 13 years old it’s a good idea to replace it to avoid a problem at some time and place where it could be a real problem.

I need to figure out how to replace the pulleys; seems someone already posted a DIY.
Already received the OEM belt I ordered for preventative maintenance piece of mind. Previous one was a Continental I think, with the weird rib design.

I would wonder where exactly the squeak is coming from. Mine is a manual, so the squeak is coming from the throwout bearing, not the accessory drive.

Definitely change that belt with an OEM part. I plan to do mine at 100k as soon as I get back from Korea.

Dirty idler pulleys can make alot of noise. A little scotch brite works well to clean them up.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Start with the tensioner pulley and go from there

Have you had issues in the past? That’s pretty frequent.

I drive a lot so it’s basically so I’m not stranded. I keep the one that came off in the truck. Sometimes I’m out in the middle of no where.

I heard of people doing it at 90k on passenger cars; 30k seems like a lot
