Good evening! I have been doing a lot of searching around lately for a 2018-19 4X4 Tacoma (Sport or Off Road) on Oahu. Right now it feels like servco might be my only option for finding what I am looking for. Did anyone happen to make a purchase from them? How was your experience? How much below MSRP did you get it and was negotiating a price easy for you? I appreciate any feedback you all have to offer!

    First off, welcome!

Are you new to the island? If so, how long do you plan to be here?

Any consideration to wait until you’re back on mainland to get a better deal?

Also, might want to check warranty if it applies from HI to wherever you go. I’ve heard Toyota USA and Toyota Hawaii / Servco are different.

Servco basically has a monopoly here. So, you’re probably not going to get the best deal on one. If you’re lucky, the salesman might throw in an OEM bedmat or OEM roof rack, but that’s not common.

If you’re active duty military, you do get a discount from Servco Toyota parts department.

What are your plans for the truck? And if you’re on a tight budget, stay away from this forum. LOL.

haha I have been browsing this forum and it looks like I could find myself dropping money on extras pretty fast!

Yea, so right now we are a one care family and I was looking at getting second vehicle (preferably a truck)

I definitely have considered waiting to go back to the mainland to get one with a better deal.

The reason we had been looking at new instead of used is just because I will likely be taking out a loan anyways... and whats an extra couple hundred bucks anyways? lol

I didnt even consider the warranty being different from the mainland, thanks for bringing that up. I love my warranties and that could be a deal breaker.. I have only been looking for a couple weeks now, but as far as buying a tacoma used, what are the odds of finding one at a decent price? Everything I have been seeing have been at the high end of KBB/NADA

Toyotas hold their value, especially here on a small island. So, you are correct to say that people and stealerships ask for the high end of KBB/NADA, or sometimes even more than that. It’s what your personal desires, preferences, and limits you can accept.
Good luck with finding something you want. I highly suggest Servco Windward and speak with Robert. My wife and I bought her car there and he was the most straightforward guy (but did not get any special treatment or freebies. LOL.

What made your experience so great?

    Also, I'm a little confused.

They gave you $11,789 for your 2009 4x2 Tacoma, and you still had to give them a check for $29,000?

So you paid a total of $40,789 for a 2018 4x4 TRD Offroad?

Seems a bit high, but I guess I'm out of touch with the current cost of a brand new Tacoma 4x4 TRD Offroad. I thought they were closer to $30-35K. Did you pay more for extended warranty and other extras?

Tell them you plan on going back to the mainland. They will make sure you get a third party warranty like I did for my 4Runner in November

You may be able to get a better deal from Big Island Toyota. They are not part of Servco, but get their Toyotas from them. I had a friend who lived on Oahu buy a Camry from them, and it was delivered from the distribution center on Oahu. Maui Toyota is also not part of Servco. If you are on Kauai or Oahu, thats all you got to choose from. Even if you go from Windward to Leeward or Honolulu, they know what was quoted to you at their other dealer locations. Servco doesnt have any additional dealer markup, and sometimes they have sales, but for the most part, the price they give you, is what you gotta pay if you want a Toyota. It does make the buying experience straight forward and really less stressful. My family owns Toyotas, Lexus and Subarus, all purchased through Servco and all with a great buying experience. The thirst is strong out here for some special local edition. But, can’t blame the marketing department for trying. We’ve had “SR Oahu edition” and “SR5 Hawaii” bedside decals on 2nd gens here on Oahu. I believe @xman68 has the “TRD Hawaii Edition” on his 3rd gen.

And the common mods are seat covers and pro grill on the 3rd gen Tacoma’s and 5th gen T4R’s. Hopefully the mark-up wasn’t too crazy. LOL.

Not at that price. Probably more like $40-$45K for $4x4. Something crazy.
