Hi, I'm a first time poster and have been doing many searches on the forum as a non-member. I have seen various info on what people suggest on settings when replacing the front shocks with bilstein 5100s. I have the stock 3 leaf rear (I'm out of warranty and don't plan to change to 4 leaf) and was wondering who has this exact set-up and put 5100s on front (only) to level out the truck and what setting they used. Also, I'm currently not interested in adding any sort of rear blocks or AAL. My 5100s came in today and I will be going next week to get some 265/75/16s put on and would like them to go ahead and do the alignment when the truck is there.

I put 5100's set at 1.75 in tonight. Ended up a little nose high. Good thing I put those Ride Rite air bags in... :D

From this info and other stuff I have read, I am going to go with .85.

I haven't looked through all the details of removal/installation, but is it possible to change the setting after they are installed (in place) or do you have to remove the coils, etc again to get enough room to move up the c-clip thing?

Not trying to jack the thread but....If u set the 1500s at .85 will u need to replace anything else on the front end to keep the stock angels on everything and keep things from wearing out quicker than if it was in stock form? Thanks in advance.

(I am trying to get my front end up a little, but do not want to mess up the front end. I also don't want the expense of a full lift kit or the stiff ride of spacers.)

No, you'll have to remove the 5100's again to adjust.

Ok. I pulled the tires off just to look things over and was just thinking that maybe there was a way. I didn't known if anyone had tried it by compressing the springs up in place enough to get some slack to raise the clip

I ran out of time yesterday so I had the tire shop install the shocks this morning when I got tires. I'm happy with it. they charged me $90 labor and $50 for alignment which I thought was pretty fair.

So, you are stock other than 5100's up front set at .85? No aftermarket coils correct?
    Pics for reference?

That is correct. All stock except 5100s up front on .85 and replaced the stock tires with some Cooper AT3 265/75/16. i thought i would give them a try. I have BFG ATs on three other vehicles and wanted to try something different. I will try to get some pics sometime.
