Doubt it if any actually show up due to the length of the drive for the not so great beaches here lol. Considering it's also the first weekend of Mardi Gras, many local folks will be plastered down in Galveston.

Have to time it just right to make it through Galveston between the parades on the Seawall. Looking at perhaps a 2 hr open gap to squeeze through without having to take the side streets to bypass it. It's gonna be hella busy getting to the island and then through it.

That's why 288 is the backup route. Plus how fast you can get there going 288

I think they will make it down there around 4-5

I'm just gonna go straight there. Would be too much of a drive to meet in Webster than drive through Galveston.

Have we decided which route to take? Personally, I'm not a fan of traffic...at all. Getting on the island, and 61st will probably be horrible anytime after 10am. Does the 288 route include 45 South to 2004 toward Lake Jackson, then 288? I've never driven down that way, and always like new roads. Don't want to sound like a party pooper, because I'm still in. However, my vote is for the back roads that may be slower speeds, but better things to "see" (more than stopped cars...) on the drive. Is this the 288 route everyone is talking about?

The route we take (45-XXXX-288 vs 45-seawall/SLP) will change this answer quite a bit. Need another poll on route! ...just kidding

    Estimate (correct me if wrong):
    45-XXXX-288: 1hr15min-1hr30min, arriving 3:00-3:30
    45-seawall/SLP: 2hrs-2hrs30min with traffic? arriving 4-4:30
