Does anyone know how to "Clock" the T-case actuator?

I took it apart to clean it, now I can't get it installed correctly.

I did it backwards, pulled the shift rod full out 4LO, ran the actuator around to stops on 4lo end of travel, removed the little gear, installed the actuator, then pushed the gear in.

Worked like charm, shifts in and out great now.

Only thing, I was playing in the water Sunday. Reason for getting into this was blinking 4x4 light, T-case actuator was dry as a bone and clean.

I did clean the commutator, brushes, worm shaft, bushings and contact strips and tabs on the gear, and replaced the O-Ring. At least that actuator is in good shape now.

But, now I am wondering if the front actuator has water in it. I really didn't have the ambition or time to drop the front diff and pull it apart. Also, the damn front diff oil plug was seized and stripped, so I sucked out some oil through the fill plug and topped it off.

The front locked every time though when I was messing with it. I don't understand the logic, does the front need to lock first before the T-case shifts? Vice versa?
