Was just reading about that. Looks like it's setting up to be a crazy day for severe weather.

hidey hole is cleaned out and ready as well as a couple sandbags to stop water from blowing under the garage door into it. gotta run around tonight and update the pictures of the house to upload into the cloud for insurance purposes, makes claims a lot easier to see the stuff instead of trying to remember it all.

I honestly can't imagine having to worry about that, come storm season. I guess this year there wasn't so much of a break from it anyway. Crazy winter weather.

Great idea taking the pictures of your stuff. I don't know if you've ever said, but have you ever lost a house or property damage from a tornado?

we've been relatively fortunate. a new roof our second year here (2013 tornado season) and a bunch of blown over fencing. we were down in the hole and wind was blowing the water under the garage door and into the shelter...thought we were gonna drown as we have a retention pond across the street (we sit about 8 feet above its water line). thought it had crested and thinking we were screwed (couldn't see crap outside, dark, no power). bailed out of shelter to the closet and things started dying down. now I grab a couple sandbags every winter for ice traction and reuse them in spring to keep water out of the shelter lol

the picture/video walkthrough was a recommendation from others who've lived here much longer. throw into into Amazon/google cloud and now its wherever you end up if everything's lost. now hopefully the gun safe stays bolted down...

Damn. Yeah, the water coming in would definitely be scary. Glad you've never lost your house.

I've always said that I really like where I live weather wise. Tornadoes are very rare. The occasional wind storm or big snow. But for the most part pretty tame compared to what you guys have to deal with.

Be safe tomorrow if that area gets what's predicted.

I've had some car and roof damage. The may 20th storm of 13 maybe? I was driving right into in. I was going south on i44 staring right at it. Ch 4 news guy says "if your on i44 south you need to get off the road". I looked around and I was the only one I could see. I was headed to grab my son from school. They didn't have shelters at the time, I figured either we would both be ok or not. Either way I'd be with him. When I got to his school I left my truck running and door open. When I came out it was sucking papers out of my truck. We got about 1500 in hail damages getting out of there. Had that tornado not shifted east my house would be in Kansas right now.

Doesn't help living in the path of several large tornados. The tornados don't worry me as much. Yeah they can be a bad deal, buy realistically you have a slim chance of being in that path. Now the baseball/softball size hail that seems to be rocket propelled. That stuff bothers me.

Anyway. I'll be a good little okie tomorrow. I've got some beer on ice, a freshly washed wife beater and cut off Jean shorts, just in case I get on the news. I'll be out in the front yard with a helmet on cussin at the sum bitch as it goes by
