They were speculating this morning that Jose could weaken the high pressure ridge that has been holding Irma south. Let's hope it keeps doing that and Irma floats off into the Atlantic.

there was a guy who made his own with farming irrigation hose/ water transfer hose. he used a large piece of PVC and added some fittings to it to attach a hose for filling. i think he said it cost him under 200, but of course this one was not nearly as large as that one but if i had to guess it could hold back 1' of water

yea that's a downfall but i guess you'd have to be on the look out for that type of stuff. I've seen the stuff before in some fields i used to hunt and its not really a thin material. it pretty thick so it'd have to be something moving pretty quick and very sharp to cut it with ease

Back on the topic of the thread.
This was one after noon while driving home. Shortly after the picture I hit a white wall of rain and traffic on the interstate slowed from 75 to about 40. Was not fun at all

Storm seems to be going east. Favoring on cruising up the side of Florida and into SC.

Well I have been tracking this thing all day and prepping my construction site for it. I hope it goes to the west coast....for my homes sake not theirs. Sucks to say because you dont want to wish this shit on anyone, however it seems to want to go up the east coast which will really suck. :fingerscrossed::pray:

A couple of the models are predicting further weakening of the high pressure ridge in the Atlantic and have it circling back out to sea. I hope more see data that points them in the same direction. It would suck for the Bahamas and possibly Bermuda, but it could save a lot of lives on the mainland. My roommate's sister and BIL are evacuating to SC from Daytona. I don't know that they are really thinking it through...

I'm still set to fly from Greenville, SC to Melbourne on Saturday morning, grabbing my truck from the airport, then heading to the house to load up my recovery gear and a few other items. I'll have a better idea of what's in store by then and can finalize my plans. If it pushes further east, I'll stay put. If it looks like Cocoa is going to get hit hard, I'll head to my mom's place in Port Orange and hunker down with her and my younger brother's family.

We are working on emergency plans for our facilities in Sarasota, Bradenton, Palm Beach, Myrtle Beach, and Greenville, NC. The latest challenge is how to weatherproof the racks in our IT rooms using supplies on hand (think Apollo 13 for plasma centers). Wrapping an IT rack in biohazard bags and packing tape is an exercise in futility, I'm afraid... o_O

yea I know. matthew turned into a few day break too. 4 days after it hit we were back on the water trawling... worst year we've had. sooooooo much debri and structure uncovered by it. we were blowing through nets by like 4 a week. work all day, mend nets all night. it was a rough season.
