april 26, 2011....our storm that got alabama pretty good. i believe the first part of the pictures are from alabama, read the description some and it will tell you which town and state.

i remember that. that whole year was bad for storms all over the South!! We don’t really got tornados around here(knoxville area) but i think we did get a few EF1’s back in ’11 if i remember correctly they where just around 100 or 110mph winds. bad but not as bad as other places.

We did get tons of hail that year and homes and cars all got damaged! including our scion xb.

 

The most severe weather I've seen yet this season; yesterday's Eagles/Lions game.

I don't care who you root for, football in the snow is awesome.

 

Truth.

 

ya it hit the south east hard that year. had a bunch of friends in the tuscaloosa area. i went with my church in pratt city here and the smell was undescribeable and seeing everything destroyed in a semi bad part of town...i was sketched out to go that part of town but once i got there it was everyone helping everyone.

 

I should have some good pictures tomorrow. We're supposed to get hit with at least a foot here between tonight and tomorrow. I've got the truck and tractor all gassed up and ready to go.
It's going to be bad enough that the Portland Jetport is already canceling flights that were scheduled for tomorrow (mine back from NYC was one of them)!!!
So instead I'm staying home and playing in the snow!!

 

all we got was some slushy snow and rain!

 

Pulaski NY and surrounding areas got 5'-6'!! In the last day or two and are expecting more... I wish we were getting that but I'd settle for the 12" they are calling for.

 

That's get up on the roof and shovel type snow. I like snow, but not that much. Couple feet is good for me. Shuts everything down around here, and I can still drive in it.

 

We've got around 14" so far, and it's still snowing like crazy. No power this AM, either, until around 15 minutes ago. Some dope must have taken out a pole. So we fired up the cookstove and had breakfast anyway.



I'll try to remember to get some pictures of the snowfall later while I'm plowing.

 

Sucks about the power. That's a sweet stove though!

Boy that stove brings back some wonderful memories.

 

Yeah that stove is freaking sweet, super jelly.

We ended up with 4" of nasty slush, then about 5 hours of steady rain on top of that. Horrible.

Yeah I bet. I'm used to dry powder in New Mexico, this stuff sucks. At least the rain washed a lot of the salt off the roads.

 

Yeah , that's one aspect people never consider when they are arguing about driving in snow or ABS / VSC in snow is the complete difference between heavy wet snow and dry fluffy snow

Quite honestly anybody can drive in dry snow , heavy wet snow is completely different with the way the vehicle reacts on it
