 Yikes. Thank God you made the call for everyone to take cover. And that it wasn't a stronger tornado.

Has the US not deployed a cellular network based warning system yet? In Canada now when there is a severe weather warning all cellular phones within the warning area get an alert immediately. It comes though even if the phone is silient as a long vibrate. It’s also used for missing kids when the suspect is likely nearby.

We have it. I just didn’t get it.

I get amber alerts all the time. Just not this time. Unfortunately.

It looks like the risk for Sunday has shifted a bit. But, like James Spann says, don't get caught up in the colors and lines. There is a threat of Severe weather this weekend so be prepared.

I saw yesterday you guys had some severe. A meteorologist that used to work in Alabama moved up to that area. Vernon Turner. He's pretty good. I think he might be in Charlotte.

New forecast trending worse than this morning. Remain weather Alert.

    ...Synopsis...
An upper trough will amplify as it approaches the lower MS Valley
with mid to upper winds increasing to 60-80 kts. At the surface, a
cold front/outflow composite boundary will extend from eastern TX
into AR in the morning, and will shift east through the period.
Ahead of this early activity will be a deepening surface trough.
Preceding the front and early storms, southwesterly low-level winds
will create a surge of theta-e across LA, MS, and AL during the day,
with mean boundary layer dewpoints increasing to 68-70 F.

Very strong large-scale lift will develop over the lower MS Valley
during the day, with intense deep-layer differential divergence.
Cooling aloft will also accompany the cold front, further aiding
destabilization. The result will be widespread thunderstorms, with
corridors of damaging wind and tornadoes.

    Mornin' folks :hattip:

Louisiana and Mississippi you're under the gun today. Stay weather aware and have multiple ways to get warnings. Alabama, we get it tonight.

    STP4-18-19LA-MSDay.jpg

Weather overnight tonight. The hatched area (within the 10%) means a chance of strong tornadoes EF2-EF5. 10% chance within 25 miles of any given point in that hatch. Very unstable air down south. Keep in mind the entire state has the threat of severe weather including tornadoes.

Have something that will wake you up if a warning is issued and you're in the polygon.

This evenings STP. The gulf coast will be under the gun.

Keep and eye on the weather

Our Oklahoma place got sideswiped by a tornado yesterday evening (less than 1/4 mile) to the West and North. No structural damage but lots of trees down. I was gonna head over this weekend to cleanup, but I-40 is flooded and closed at the Arkansas River in OK. Guess it'll have to wait until next weekend.

Are we going to have 14th straight day with a tornado somewhere in the US? Longest run since 1980.
