meh..... rip off for residential use IMO unless your a baller with a mcmansion and even then your looking a 1/2 of a percent better performance that will never pay for itself.

Ive sold a good deal of industrial storefront and curtainwall systems in the past decade and the only suckers who pay for argon around here is the government.

Just get better glass with that money and if your that far up north skip the argon and get triple pane.

If money was no object and I already had the best glass and frames, yes I would use argon, but it would be my last option.

Triple pane's hard on the frames, though. And on the hardware, if it's on opening windows or doors. Regular windows and doors sag enough without an extra slab of glass.
Plus, at least around here, by the time you spring for triple pane windows you're very nearly as expensive as the Argon ones with the Lowe2 coating, if not more.

YUP! one of the reasons i moved from there
people out here in ID complain about the weather constantly and i really want to smack them, because it's the most absolutely normal and consistent weather i've ever seen
from winter into and throughout spring, it gradually gets greener and warmer
from summer into and throughout autumn, leaves fall and it gradually gets colder
in NY there is no spring or fall; summer and winter just battle back and forth for several months... who knows what the !#$% it will be like from one day to the next

Hahaha people love to complain here about winter saying it sucks and wish it was warm. They actually complain more about the snow which blows my mind... I'm always like WTF? You live in NY! GTFO if you don't want winter! I love winter and snow and we don't get it anymore, just -27 temps and rain...

I complain about the lack of winter, not the fact that we have it...

    +1

We sometimes use argon for drysuit inflation for scuba diving since it is a better insulator than air. It's not that big of a deal for shallower diving on 32, but for deeper tech diving it is a very big deal because the helium in the back-gas is a HORRIBLE insulator.

Damn you! Not even a single solitary snowflake here. Now they're saying the storm may bypass Maine entirely.
    What a screwy winter.

Cold here too. We just crept over into positive digits about 20 minutes ago; we're at 1 degree right now!
Of course, with windchill it's -17...

last winter i was in NY (3 or 4 ago), the first snow fall was in september and the last was in may
...that is freaking 9 months of winter. hahaha

don't get me wrong... i love the winter, especially the snow; but, i only love winter when it's.... well... winter time, because...
i also love autumn and spring; but, they never seem to exist out there
rather, there's a couple of months inbetween summer and winter where the two of them battle back and forth

we've got 4 distinct and full seasons here in ID and i love it
but, i do wish we got as much snow as NY gets in the winter
and i wish we got as many thunder and lightning storms as NY does in the summer

eh, you win some you lose some
