They reported one in the county north of us earlier. It's too hilly here for them to be able to travel very far. South Texas is a different story, hope everyone is safe down there.

It was. The warning on it at that point was only another 10 mins I think. So it was dying. Still cool to see a pretty clear hook on radar. Don't get to see it that often.

yep, ...there was a tornado that hit close to where I live 2 weeks ago, ...did EF-3 damage to a few homes in a very rural area... was watching the local news at the time, ...it was showing a well defined reflectivity "hook", and they even showed relative velocity products indicating the velocity "couplet"...

Nice. That radar app that I posted a pic from has the capability to show that. I don't mess with it to much, and half the time I forget it does it. But definitely interesting to see. I just like to see the clear hook. Most of the time its hard to see.

yep, ...the pronouncement of the "hook" can be highly variable, ...depending on the aspect angle to the radar site, slant range and elevation angle of the radar beam (i.e. what altitudes in the storm the backscatter is coming from), ...storm features as indicated by reflectivity get diminished if the radar-to-storm range vector passes through a high precipitation area... that's why the velocity data (Doppler) is an invaluable tool for detecting circulation...

there's a lot of interesting vid out on the internet of local station broadcasts of tornado events, ...the Greensburg, KS event is one of the more illuminating ones... that storm had very pronounced features on radar...

...if you're a bonified severe weather geek :D, ...you'll probably enjoy this more in depth discussion on the supercell that produced the Greensburg tornado, ...it was a long track supercell that produces several tornadoes throughout its lifespan, ...and most people won't know this, ..that after the Greensburg tornado spun out, ...the storm spawned a successive one that was even larger/wider, near Trousdale (NE of Greensburg), ...but it was mainly over open country...

The NWS analyst who issued the Greensburg tornado warning chimed in about the extraordinary events of that night...

    got some pic.

“top” of root ball is over 6’ off the ground. left about a 2.5’ hole in the ground. but that can be filled in easier than taking the stump out.

the tree to the right is busted/cracked and will have to come down, as well has one farther back from it that you can’t really see.

yeah i’d say it was a good 50’ or taller and big branches. is kinda nice that it up rooted though, so thats one up side to it.

we have 5 to 8 other trees that lots the tops out of them, that will have to be cleaned up, and a bunch of small branches all over our 5 acres. the neighbor had some come down as well, will help him clean some of that up some time.
