Just got one of those 3/4 hp servo motors to replace the 1/2 hp clutch type, for our commercial machine can't wait to install it tomorrow. Should be able to control needle speed much easyer, adjustable from 0 to 3500 rpm.

Hancock fabric is going out of business. Stopped by this morning and got home decor fabric that was $30-40/yd for $2.25/yd. Everything in the store is 60-85% off and if you buy the rest of the bolt you get an additional 10% off so up to 95% off.

FINALLY got my hammock made. 11' is a bit long, if I did it again it'd probably be 8' or 9. Being the first time I've worked with ripstop it worked out VERY well. The nice thing is that the hammock was made at the full width, so the edges were already decently locked in and didn't fray. The rolled hems turned out great, I just free handed them as the rolled hem specific foot was more for like 1/8" hems for clothing rather than the 1/4" I used for this.

Having a huge work surface really helps when you're working with several yards of material.

Here's the rolled hems for the sides.

Did appliqué for the first time last night. Turned out pretty good and surprised me what all went into it.

Great! I definitely had the thought of throwing that deal up here. I don't have any experience myself with it, but my friend who does more low scale modifications to hiking/camping gear has one and loves it.

    Thanks!

Sent customer a pic of it and she said she loved it! Always kind of scary doing new stuff you're not familiar with. Lol

This your first machine or have you been sewing for a while?

This will be all new to me, other than sewing on a button... My wife's been sewing for years and we finally had to retire her olde hand-me-down machine. This seemed like a good replacement from the reviews on Amazon.

Exactly. Especially when you just consider yourself an advanced amateur. Lol

Not really going to make much on this one because of all the stuff I needed and didn't have for this application but I have a crap load of it now and will be prepared next time. Broke down and bought a thread chart too because the pdf one on the computer sucks.

I just wish I could sew clothes. I absolutely suck at it. Bought some material not long ago to make some curtains for the bedroom. Tired of the sun shining through the blinds in the morning.

Clothes are something I'd like to get dabbling in, so I could make some performance clothing for a lot cheaper than you could buy it. Not to mention a tailored fit!
