I'm negotiating for a 2003 Tacoma 4x4 to be my daily driver. It's overdue for a timing chain etc, needs a clutch & brakes, and the elocker light just blinks (don't know if it's locking, could be nothing or could be something). I'm not a DIY guy (unless it's wood), so what's a reasonable guess at the the total repair bill for these items? I don't expect a 21 year old truck to need nothing at all, but I'd like to have a reasonable figure in mind when I decide whether to proceed, and how much I'm willing to pay. I'm in Santa Cruz so I'd be paying SF Bay Area prices.

    Thanks for any knowledgeable guesses.

It's a timing belt on the v6 3.4l , your gonna want to do waterpump, Tbelt roller bearings, T belt tensioner and thermostat while your in there. All those parts are par for the course when replacing Tbelt. Aircabinman seller on Ebay has good bundle deals. Don't know mechanics prices I can't afford one. I did it myself. Good luck oh check your valve cover gaskets and cam and crank seals also while they are in there

I found the Timmy the Toyotaman video on this to be extremely helpful. (I also enjoyed his valve cover gasket replacement video.)

Try posting on the NorCal forum. Lots of Toyota shops around here.

Ya for Bay Area pricing I’d say in the neighborhood of $2500-3 for all that. One good thing is if you it all at once it should reduce labor cost since the engine will be out anyway. I did all you mentioned in a weekend on my v6 4x4 but that was in the summer months with long days and tshirt weather. I’d also recommend doing new exhaust gaskets and valve cover gaskets
