Hey Everyone. My buddy and I were talking about taking a road trip from San Francisco area to Vegas. We want to take as many off road trails if any along the way. I have a basically stock 2021 OR and he has a 2021 Defender. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I assume you'll be waiting until the spring/summer, or heading down through Bakersfield...

I would check out a few of the sites like AllTrails or TrailsOffroad, they have a pretty good list of trails that you can download GPX files (many are free, or you can pay like $25 for full access). I just paid my $25 for TrailsOffroad, and it's definitely worth it, IMO.

There's also a website called https://www.offroadinghome.com/ that has digital versions of all the trails from the Backcountry Adventure series books.

I take all those GPX or KMZ files, plop them in Google Earth Pro and start planning my routes.

I would suggest keeping to the Eastern Sierras and the 395 route, but you'll more than likely need to wait until the snow melts. There are tons of roads/trails along there.

Just looking at my copy of the offroadinghome.com maps (kmz), from Mono Lakes/Lee Vining there look to be some trails east of 395 that'll take you all the way to Bishop without touching 395 (Sawmill Meadows trail, Kelly Meadows trail, and Casa Diablo). These are all easy rated trails (barely more than fire roads)
