Have you seen defined engineering's shackles?

I'm trying to hold out to see what ATO has up their sleeves. Might just order a shackle flip for now though. Going to pull a leaf out of my Dakar pack to compensate for the lift that I don't want.

 

I've seen defined, and I like the product, but Id like to see ATO as well. And if you want a little less lift with the shackle flip, I'll trade you my AP standard leafs for you OME leafs.

 

Just pulled the trigger on the shackle flip, we'll see how it is after install! Hoping ATO comes up with a "no lift" greasable shackle.

 

I was running a XJ banana shackle but the ass end was too high.
I had to take about 1/8" off the bushings to squeeze them on but they are stout as hell.

No complaints here.

 

I like the xj shackles. I get a lot better droop, but the shocks aren't long enough now. going to have to go inboard.

 

I was wondering how you were making out with my hand-me-downs.

Just got the brackets PC'd a couple days ago, waiting on a chance to put them in.
I'll be installing JKS's greasable XJ shackles until someone comes out with a reasonably-priced (read: not DE's) no-lift greasable one. I really don't want any more lift on the ass!

One question for anyone with the XJ shackles: Is there a significant amount of additional droop to be had with the longer length? It seems that might be another way to get a smidge more droop, at the expense of additional ride height.

That's what I have and couldn't be happier

 

I'm using them because previously my shocks weren't maxed out at full droop. Now my shocks bottom out before I reach full droop. I will change my shock mounts to solve that.

 

If your running stock mounts & shackles with the flip kit it sounds like they will be too long....

 

Sorry I've been MIA, I have not gotten to get on the forums as much as I'd like. I'm working on getting the shackles on the site but I've been knocked out by illness for about 10 days. It's been everything I could do to just keep the shop running. I have the production plates coming in from laser, they should be here with in a week. The set we ran at JV did great, no problems, and I wasn't nice to the truck.

Sorry I don't have any travel numbers for any of the AP springs so I can't be of much help on shock selection for those.

You don't want to allow the shocks to act as limit straps. You'll blow the bottom seals out of the shock or damage the valve stack on the piston. If you can flex out the truck unbolt the bottom shock mount and flex the truck as much as you can. If the shock pulls out of the mount then you need longer shocks (if they will still work at compression) or limit straps.

What springs are you using?

 

The long awaited and much delayed Super Duty Shackles, stock length are here! I haven't written a full wordy blurb about them yet, but basically they are all high strength 1/4" plate and a 1/4" thick bushing tube. They are grease able (not shown in the pics), and include the shackle side bushing and new hardware. These will work with stock shackle hangers and our flip kits. $94 for both sides.

As you guys request custom lengths we'll see what is the most common and add those as regular stock items too.
