I've got a HC pelfrey bumper waiting to be installed, so hopefully I can get around that (or I'll have to cut into the pelfrey bumper instead)...I'm hoping everything will clear without cuts!

Wow, I didn't even notice that. It looks like the shackle mount would be positioned further back if I installed them in the correct locations, using the existing bolt holes. I haven't looked, but this would mean the leafs are not aligned, yes? Because if they were installed on the correct side, the shackle would then be mounted directly under the frame, whereas currently it's off to the side?

It would be off to the side regardless. They are def mounted on the wrong side. You should take it back to whomever installed them and have it corrected. When at full droop, the shackles should just be so slightly angled toward the rear, and when resting on flat ground, they should have roughly a 45* angle toward the rear.

Thanks so much you guys, I'll reinstall this myself. I've had a few issues with them and never went back for a couple years now. Will send an update when I am able to get this done!

Am I missing something here? Yours looks like it's installed the same as the rest in this thread?

Further investigation says yes, mount in those locations. Looks like you may need to trim some material from that bumper mount. That won't effect the strength of it though.

Ok, my PB high clearance bumper should allow it to fit without any cutting. Someone had asked for a full underskirt picture :censored:, here it is: RearTacomaUpskirt.jpg

I had to remove my pelfrey bumper to get the flip kit in but was able to reinstall the bumper with no cutting. You can see there plenty of room after but couldn't get it installed at first with the bumper in the way.

Moved the shackles back one hole. Big improvement already, but it was tough getting the spring to flatten out enough to fit the bolt. I can see why the AP Expo spring warranty is voided with the shackle flipped. IMG_5730.jpg

The spring pack is not a good spring pack to use with a shackle flip. I found that I greatly reduced my load carying capabilities. What I did was I installed some sumo spring bump stops.

These specific ones. I did a lot of research to come to this set for load capacity, size and fit.

They add a bit of a progressive spring but are a true bump stop. They compress to factory height and I no longer have any sag on the rear end. The trade off, its a little more firm when daily driving w/ no load. You get used to it and I like them.

I do have a set of Chevy springs that i may do the Chevy spring one day, that requires relocating the front leaf hanger. We shall see.

I too had already upgraded my bump stops, but those AP Expos needed help after doing the shackle flip. That is what I did to bring my load capacity back to what it was before. If you find you have this problem, throwing out the solutions
