Right on. Thanks for the update.
Can you comment on the effects of a shackle flip on daily driving and offroad on steep descents?
When offroading is there a concern of "them opening up" like revolvers and then getting jammed (inverted) against the frame?
How much lift are we looking at for the new design? (I'm trying to avoid more lift at the moment since I'm worried about trailering and rake angles).

    Cheers Kevin!

if you look at MJP2's truck, he runs inverted LT shackles and his rear squats down when he accelerates. I run flipped Engage shackles on mine and my rear end pics up more than 2 inches when I accelerate

So MPJ2 is runnign DMZ (styled?) LT shackles inverted (same orientation as stock) and the engage is a traditional shackle orientation right?

What is the benefit of the inverted setup that drove Toyota to build the trucks the way they are. I assume locating the springs as far outboard as possible to minimize axle leverage on the springs and decrease roll played in the decision. But it seems that the same thing could have been achieved with a traditional setup.

I have never heard or seen anything about a shackle flipping up and reversing on itself. Usually, the shackle will sit at a 45* angle to the ground. Even when it is fully decompressed it won't make it to 91* because the leaf springs are too long from eye to eye. For the Shackle to flip on itself the axle would have to move itself down AND forward quite a bit. Iirc didn't his flips only give ~0.5" lift? That's not much to be worried about IMO

Shackles getting jammed forward against the frame isn't unheard of. I did a quick google search and found a fair number of people discussing it... however, for every person complaining about it there are probably 500 that don't have issues.

The 0.5" isn't much at all in itself. however, when the truck is already raked out and has the allpro hitch (which is very high), 0.5" it isn't helping either. I am waiting for my 10" drop draw bar to show up so I can see how terrible the trailer angle is. I may have to accept that I can't pull my motorcycle trailer with the Taco and keep my S10 forever.

As an update, I am running the Allpro u-bolt flip kit now. I tig welded the factory bump stops to the top plates until the day that I have hydro-bumps or something trick back there. I know it shouldn't be different and therefore must be psychosomatic, but the truck feels looser in the back now. I snapped a few cell phone pics and will get them up tonight.

    Cheers

Bump. Anyone else running these? Curious about how they're holding up?

I have the u-bolt flip kit for my first gem sitting in my room. It is beefy, I seriously doubt you're going to have any issues with it. The plate is a 1/2" thick and the bolts are thicker than I expected.
