It's so hard for me to believe lol. How would they even load that? You'd have to load it by hand, how would it stay at that angle?

A fork lift could have done it after some begging.

Dood! I wish I was there for real. Sadly, all that we have is the epic aftermath.

How does one prevent shackles from potentially being stolen? Don't those just screw into place?

I used a mallet to tighten the hell out of my shackle. I literally can't take mine off anymore lol.

Yeah. I'm not into piercings myself and only pull out the cuffs when I need them. :D

If you really want to keep them on for show, shackles have a hole in the pin for safety wire. Get some SS 0.042in dia and safety wire pliers. Beyond being fun to use, it is easy security against opportunistic bad guys.

You can buy keyed shackle locks or hope the threads get rusted shut so it never comes off.

I hear you, but folks have been killed for less than a $10 shackle.

Keep them in your recovery gear bag until you actually need to use them, put them back into your recovery gear bag when yer done, and Bob's your uncle.

This is the best way. Don’t need shackles installed around town.

If you can’t take it off then its useless as a recovery shackle and it’s nothing but mall crawler jewelry.

DO NOT install on the drivers side loop. That isn’t a frame attachment and should not be used for recovery

For non-ORs / non-Pros, that is the stronger tow point versus the transport tie down on the passenger side.

Of course, I am making a distinction here between mud stuck and everything else. Mud stuck requires special consideration and caution.

    All the things!
I had (4) shackles stolen off my truck by an opportunistic prick. I've since replaced them and tightened them beyond hand tight with a screw driver through the pin hole. They still come off, just not by hand.
