My dealership sends me videos, and although I don't see the actual rotation, I do see the wheels off.

Man, it would be extremely lazy to take the wheels off and not rotate them, but now I am thinking about it.

My wife's Honda Pilot (yeah i said Honda) has always been serviced by the dealership (210K miles). Fluid changes and smaller services were done by them. Any bigger jobs i took to a mechanic i trust. Hearing all these bad experiences with all these dealerships have got me wondering now if all they do is add fluid or dust off the old filters and reinstall lol. Next time i take my Taco in i'm definitely going to mark the skid plate bolts and tires to see if they remove the skid plate for the oil change or rotate the tires.

Not sure if they qualify as "real" truck tires, but the falken wildpeaks I had put on a couple of months ago had the marks and they installed on the wheels according to the marks.

You’re already done with your two ToyotaCare free oil changes?

I don’t let the dealer touch my oil or tires.

20k was my last free oil change and this was my last free maintenance. I'll be doing it myself from now on.

You wrote that entire story and you’re not even going to say who the dealer is? Toyota is going to facilitate you going to a different dealer and not hold them one bit accountable for their shady practices. It’s almost 2020, just do what everyone else does and bash them on social media.

    I'd find a new dealer.

I'm nervous about my local dealer myself. They were an absolutely horrible sales experience...so I'm not sure I'd want to take it there for service either. The dealer I actually bought from was 3 hours away and they were fantastic from a sales point of view. Maybe I'll drive 3 hours for my oil change/tire rotation.

After ToyotaCare I'll be servicing it myself.

I had my first service done a while ago. This reminds me I need to check my camera footage to see if they actually pulled it into a bay or just went to grab breakfast burritos.

Thankfully the dealer I use has been good. I marked my tires with a sharpie before each rotate I allowed, and double checked everything else they did. No issues.

People that have a DiscountTire nearby are better served having them do rotates. They check balancing, check for screws and nails, torque lugs properly, etc.

The KwikKar near me is exceptional for oil service. I’ve been taking vehicles to them for 20 years. Randy, the manager, runs a tight ship. I take my vehicles to them BEFORE taking them to the dealer for service intervals. I like to get some eyeballs on things before going to the dealer.

I have a UCA that needs to be replaced. Pretty sure the dealer won’t warranty it due to the Toytec shocks and SCS wheels. I’ll probably just have the offroad shop I use do it.

In other words, the dealer rarely touches my vehicles. Visual checks only typically. I don’t even let them wash them.

DiscountTire has been nothing but good for me. I actually planned on going there to get my tires rotated instead of the dealer, but things came up and I forgot to tell the dealer not to rotate them.

I agree with you mostly, but speaking honestly about service or experience is something I don't consider bashing.

If anything the lazy tech bashed his employer's reputation.

I like the OP would have given them a chance to fix the situation, but that did not help the OP as it continues.

    Name them.

I just took my 2017 in for oil change and tire rotation. After work was complete so they say They informed me that my truck with 78,000 miles need front brake pads and rotor maintenance. They also said I needed my radiator fluid changed. Funny thing is the maintenance guide says you should have your spark plugs changed out at 60,000 miles dealer said nothing about this. I decided to take my truck to a independent service shop which is pretty good. They told me I do not need any front brake pads or rotor maintenance they say maybe in 15,000 miles you may need this. I also found out that during my maintenance trip to the dealer the ass holes did not rotate my tires. Ok I am done with them

If they're cutting corners, I'm assuming it's happening throughout the service department and most likely the General manager doesn't have control over any part of the building (or is facilitating the shortcuts).

I was negotiating my truck purchase through the dealership about the time my wife's RAV4 was getting it's maintenance. They said they rotated her tires on the paperwork, I knew they were lying, asked about it, they told me I was mistaken, I purchased my truck at the other dealership and haven't been back since.

Completely agree. I check everything they do but they never screwed me so far and have
been great about everything. The under the cap paint trick tho! Never heard of that one.

But the first time I catch them lying, would be the last time I'd visit there again. Excluding the
finance guy(well known dbag there) they've all been great for all 14 issues (under warranty) that
I've had to deal with. I was one of the luck 2016 owners w/ every issue that came out, last 2 yrs though, it's been perfect.
