hey guys tried to do a little research and didn't find any related threads posted, so anyway i have a 96 taco 4x4 auto and the shifter has a lot of play in it, and moves up and down a good inch in both directions and is sometimes tricky finding what position its in, has anyone ran into this problem or no how to fix it (plus its annoying hearing it rattle back and forth driven down the road) thanks, and appreciate any input.

There have been a ton of threads discussing this issue. It is completely normal to have the shifter jump around. I was worried about it when I first got my truck as well, but it is normal. It has to do with the way transmission is mounted I believe. It has a little play in it to allow it to flex a bit, so the shifter moves around with it.

And my shifter indicator thing looks like its in between 2nd and Drive, but it's really in 'D'

My t-case shifter vibrates like a sex toy. Less so after I grease the shafts, but still a bit.
