Shark fin antennas on third Gen

I would imagine its an internal antenna like most marine GPS's

 

My f150 has the antenna without nav. My 2012 and 2014 tacomas had the antenna without nav.

 

MGM SR. Mine is color matched to the tires.

 

I inquired with Toyota about removing the antenna. I was told it covers am, fm, sat, gps, all type of communications go through that antenna.

 

Never paid attention. I suppose it's black on my white OR. I suppose Dikimbe Mutombo might see it often enough to care, but I don't.

Where is the AM FM antenna?

 

Every one I've seen is black, all trim levels. You should paint yours with shark teeth, OP. Like the WWII P40 Warhawk painted Flying Tigers shark face.

 

I was told by Toyota that everything goes through that antenna. Am, fm, sat, gps, nav.

 

Now all I can picture is Dikimbe Mutombo trying to fit into a sunroof equipped Tacoma...

 

It's not international, the headunit has a gps antenna plug.

I have a 2017 MGM Offroad SB. But mine is a Canadian edition with dual zone, Nav, Homelink mirror etc and a color matched fin.

The shark fin is: AM/FM/Sat Radio/GPS.

@bluevelvet You can relocate it, but without jimmy' the wiring or trying to find extensions, you will only be able to move it forward. The antenna lead runs from roof down passenger side c pillar.

Page 259 of the navigation manual says the GPS antenna is located inside the instrument panel.

 

Hmm. I removed my shark fin and it had Dual connections. I know for sure 1 was sat radio, the other may have just been terrestrial. I wouldn't put it past Toyota to throw it up in the cluster. I just found out they did away with external flasher relay and integrated it into the cluster. Uggg.

 

My black trd sport has a white antenna. Or did I mix that up? Hmmmm

 

So it seems its under the dash, right by the bottom of the windshield behind the gauge cluster like Subaru and some other toyota cars.
