    If you're having issues with it rusting, dunk your razor in a bottle of Isopropyl alcohol, with mineral oil. The oil settles on the bottom, so the alcohol burns off the water on the blade, and then the oil under coats the blade so humidity doesn't cause more rusting issues.

    Pat dry on TP or towel.

    I've actually cut myself off from getting more razors awhile ago as well, but have been wanting a new hobby, so maybe straight razors are in my future.

    I really like that Merkur. If I remember correctly, that is the razor Edward James Olmos used in the new "Battlestar Galactica". :p

    Oddly, the only new razor I ever bought was this:

    Feather "Artist Club DX"

    It uses reusable blades that are scary sharp, but being able to get a bbs shave with one pass is awesome.:cool:

    Yeah, they usually go for over $200, but I got mine during a group buy on another forum for $125 shipped; I don't know if I'd pay full price for it.

    I think the appeal is a straight razor with out all the "upkeep". Feather is a Japanese company that makes about half a dozen straight razors with disposable blades.

    The Japanese make all kinds of wacky stuff. I wouldn't have gotten it if not for the 50% discount, but I do like using it.

    Like I posted earlier, I'm looking to pick up a new hobby. I think straight razors might be it. Nothing makes me happier than fussing with something I enjoy. Shoot, I might have to head over to straightrazorplace.com before I go to sleep...:rolleyes:

    Nah, its super easy. Specially with the one I posted. Just keep it flat against your face and lift the spine of it up a tiny bit and it just cuts though the whiskers like a machete.

    Dovo is a good place to start. But to be perfectly honest, head on over to straightrazorplace.com and just start reading. The wealth of information they have is staggering.
    But my coles notes version is this. Dovo, Vie-Long Horsehair brush, Proraso soap and an Alum block. (Or you can use Crystal Deodorant, it's the same ingredients. Ammonium Alum. Works like a damn.)

    It's all good. :D
