Well, i got a delivery notification for my GDE hot tune yesterday about 130, tried to wait till 430 to leave work, but left about 230 or so. Got home by 3 and took 38 minutes from hood open to hood closed. (swap of ECM) Ez pz job. Took another few mins to do the startup sequence, then headed out down the road. The initial DPF regen went quick, maybe 10 minutes to complete once i got to the highway.

I attempted to remove the ecm without pulling the airbox, but found i could use some more room, so i pulled it. Top bolts piece of cake. Bottom bolts not too bad either. I actually removed the “hard” one first by accident, i thought i was on the easy one. No issues, no dropped bolts, everything plugged back together very easy.

Initial driving impressions. I feel the lag to start moving is reduced. I can hear the turbo. More snappy throttle response. Less downshifting when accelerating. more torquey (is that even a word?)

Will follow up after i drive it for a bit, but so far am very pleased.

Pretty cool ride Jimbo...crazy how the chrome stuff is still the fad compared to color matching things like a grill. To me its so much more clean and the paint match came out perfect! My girl has a blue metallic Xterra and I painted her headlights almost the same color of yours. Its amazing how something so subtle can make such a difference.

Have been working on color matching a set of headlights over the past few weeks. The insides came out great. However I need to pull them back apart and re-set the clear cover. they did not seat right going back together. there is a deep groove / lip at the pointy end, and a nice groove around the rest of the housing. I was not able to get the cover into the groove at the pointy end, resulting in an awful gap where it is displaced outwards a bit. Time to cut some shit  Also threw in half a dozen packs of desiccant just in case.

My brother is leasing a 2017 Dodge since late 2016 ,nothing but problems. He will be getting back into a Toyota after this one . Even the dealership has given him grief about working on it . Software and electrical problems . Leaky gas tank ,driver window falls out of the track

Yea man I’m sure he feels that way. I know about ten years ago the drive shafts on the rams would snap off a lot. I had two friends where that happened to at 80 and 100k which has always made me nervous of the Ram ever since. I’m sure they have fixed it, but the power the ram has I feel sometimes it isn’t built to actually handle it. Hopefully that is different now.

There are a lot of Rams on the road around here :notsure: . I believe they are like $20000 cheaper than Chevy or Ford and that is the reason !

When I was in college down in the Virginia beach area you would have the "bro-dozers" everywhere. Some guys would get dodges for that exact reason as it was a very economic platform to get into. Since they would all lift their trucks anyway, they didn't really have much brand loyalty. That said though, the rams always seem to die first...amazingly I think Ford was the most stout of the big three in terms of longevity. I had a 4runner first and eventually went to a first gen taco in college, def didn't have any ambitions to have any of the fullsizes that they drove. They also had issues in sand where they had to air down quite a bit to get around while I just cruised on through, but that's mainly due to being a mid size guy.
