Hi im new to the forum and dont feel like typing correctly because it takes too long for me.

I have a 95 Tacoma. its the 5 speed Manuel transmission. 3.4 L V6 blah blah blah. The only upgrades it has is a K&N intake and 3 inch lift and after market wheels.

She shakes. between 45 and 60 she shakes. At any speed, if i let completely off the gas, she shakes. If im really laying the fuel to her she quits shaking. This truck has been this way since i bought it. ive put over 20k miles on it and nothing has changed. I bought it with the stock wheels and just recently got the ever so common Dick Cepeck wheels, she still shook.
I even lowered my drive shaft carrier bearing to try and fix it, nothing.

What gets me is, I just paid a $1463 shop bill. thinking it was gonna fix my shake.
    this price included
    Steering rack
    Rear axel seal
    Rear brakes
    Gear oil
    Valve cover gasket
    PCV valve
    Timing belt
    Both new front axels
    oil seal
    And an alignment

Ive heard its just the nature of the tacoma. But really, is there anything else i can do for this thing?

    Thanks. Cam

Most of that work is just routine maintenance. Assuming the "blah blah blah" portion of your post is speaking to how many miles are on the truck, that sounds like solid routine maintenance.

One question: are your wheels/tires balanced?

It could also be u-joints or the carrier bearing

My vote is a bad u-joint in rear axle.

Mine shakes too. 02 Ext cab 4x4 V6. I think it's my carrier bearing as I have tons of play. I plan on replacing mine between xmas and new years since I'm off anyway. Probably gonna replace front and rear u-joints while I'm in there.

Does it get better while in.4x4? Sounds driveline related to me.

Roughly a year ago I replaced the carrier. Didnt change anything. Never tried the universals, although they felt tight when i did the carrier. And the tires, I had them balanced at the local shop, have no idea what all they did with them. And thanks for the replies so quickly

When I had a vib like that it was caused by too high of CV axle angles. Lowering the axle angles eliminated the vib.

You mentioned having a 3" lift and having to replace your CVs. Had the boots failed?

Got any pics that show your front axles?

You should check the ujoints. Shaking between 45 and 60 is classic ujoint/driveline out of balance. One way to know for sure is to get in on a car lift, take the wheels off and run the driveline to the speed to where it shakes. If it still shakes, check the driveline with a dial indicator and a magnetic base for wobble.

And yes. the boots have failed. And I dont have any pictures. Would lowering the angle affect the castor alignment?

Nope. Axles and diff are independent of spindles. Do a diff drop to lower the angle of CV joints.

Have you checked the ball joints?

Ok, and yes, balljonts are good. That could definitely be it. How do you lower that though. I dont really want to go outside with a flash light and lay on the cold wet ground at the moment, haha. I do understand though.

After 20K miles - did you get and wear patterns on the tires?

I couldn't get rid of the vibration between 50mph - 70mph and it took 3 different times to finally get it balanced on some machine the tire shop had. They would balance it a little bit, take it for a drive them do some more balancing and they would take it for a drive again they even let the air out of the tires and aired them up again and let it mount better or seal better to the rims. Finally whatever they did it rides perfect now. No more vibration. One thing I didn't have to do is replace any parts.

Did you try taking the drive shaft out and running in 4wd (front wheel drive only?) and then again do the same thing to the front?
When you get the shakes - did you put it in neutral shut off the engine and let it coast??

I did not try any of those things Canufixit. It is more of a vibration, as people are saying. It does feel like off balanced wheels, but it felt exactly the same after i got my after market wheels and had them balanced. so ive judged tire balance out. I think the next thing i do is check u-joints again and what Gigiratus said about the front end.

Are you manual hubs?? If so then you can rule out any thing as far as cv joint and diff drop stuff. Now if youre ADD then of course these things would play a role. Id recomend a diff drop aswell in this case. But....since youre losing your vibes on decel and feeling them on acceleration it really sounds like a u joint. Sometimes its really hard to tell if one is bad by trying to shake and move the driveline around. It dosent take much for one to begin to develope a slight whobble.

No its worse on the decel, stops when accelerating. And they are automatic hubs
