    Better yet, go to the dealership in person and ask to speak with the owner, general manager or operations director. Skip the little guys.

    Thanks for the replies. I was trying not to think about it over the weekend. I contacted the GM of the dealership and now they are trying to give me a 'discount' which equates to what I should have been quoted in the first place, 500 for the OEM parts and 4 hours in labor. As much as it sucks to give them money, I might wind up taking it as this will be cheaper than getting the truck closer to me and repaired and I am leaving the country next week so I have limited time.

    What I’d be worried about is them turning around after 4 hours of labor and turning it into a can of worms for A LOT more of your money. I wouldn’t do it. I know leaving the country blows at a time like this. But I think the best option is to get that truck out of there.

    Perhaps you can ask a qualified member who lives near you for paid help? Start a thread in the appropriate forum. Buy the parts when you get back with a clear head. Spend a day or less. I know, easy to say, but hard to do.

    If you do decide to sign, before doing so, ask if it will affect future warranty issues, and get it in writing.

    Don’t bail them out! If they were in the right they would not be discounting the service they already did. Tell them to return it to stock or give it to you for free. If that doesn’t work tell them you will pay the COST of parts.

    @Freekman

    Did you file a complaint with Toyota? Or at least threaten to?

    I have threatened to do that and call a lawyer. I am definitely filing a complaint regardless.

    Above all else, get everything in writing, and record your phone conversations with them. I know that might be getting stupid, but they’ve been a sketchy dealer. Good luck and hope all goes well for you and gets cleared up, so you can have your 3rd Gen ride again.

    I know this thread is kind of dead, but I just wanted to give everybody a final update. I picked up my truck from Carbone Toyota in Bennington VT 2 weeks ago. This is the shop I was dealing with the whole time that was so bad. Paid about $900 for the oem parts and labor. The lady there was nice, but clearly not happy to see me. I also got a nail in my motorcycle tire which I am pretty sure came from their lot lol. I know a lot of you think I should have kept fighting, and I agree, but I had already wasted so much time at that point and was leaving the country. I am going to be filing official complaint with Toyota and the dealer (any tips on best ways to do that?). I am at least glad it is over, though not happy with the outcome obviously. Thanks for all the support along the way haha

    Thanks for the update man, good closure for those of us that had been following along. Sorry it didn't work out in your favor though, hopefully Toyota will step up to make it better. At least you have your truck back!
