Sheared screws on my Prinsu Rack

Just reached out to Prinsu/CBI for this same issue and was told that the warranty doesn’t cover the corroded crossbars and hardware. I was offered a partial refund on one new crossbar but will likely need to buy an entire new rack’s worth of crossbars. Every single crossbar is experiencing seized hardware and corroded crossbars.

 

How long ago did you buy it ? Did you have the paperwork from the original purchase. Cbi bought prinsu right when I got my replacements but that was awhile ago

 

Yeah, they’ve likely changed how they perceive the issue during that time.

I had the roof rack installed in 2021 and have the original invoice from the approved installer (and offered to obtain the approved installer’s initial order) and the original Prinsu/CBI staff member I spoke to said that was fine since they updated systems in 2022 and have no prior records. However, a second staff member intervened and said: “Unfortunately, this is not something that we cover under warranty as there are several variables that can affect the hardware, such as climate, torque applied when installing, etc. But, we can offer a 40% discount code on a new crossbar if you are unable to remove the broken bolt.”

You would assume that since both the crossbar and the Prinsu supplied hardware are significantly corroded, they’d own up to it as a design issue. So I’m probably getting 40% off of one crossbar at a time as I swap them all out. Or getting 40% off of the first crossbar and getting to buy the rest at full price. I’m going to try to be proactive this time and apply never-seize lubricant to all the hardware and crossbars as I swap them all out.
