was hoping to get an idea of prices people are paying for their new shells...tonneau's too if desired.
I cannot believe the quote I just received for an ARE topper!

Dealer Information Action Car and Truck Accessories
Truck Information Truck Year: 2016 Truck Make: Toyota Truck Model: Tacoma Truck Cab: Access Cab Truck Bed: 73.5 in. Model Overland Series Truck Cap Options Trim Option: Trimless Front Cap Option: Tilt-Down Front Sliding Window Side Window: Half-Slider Side Window Rear Door: Double T-Lock Heavy-Duty Rear Door Interior Carpet: Fabric Headliner Interior Light Option: LED Dome Light (Battery) Roof Rack: Yakima Whispbar HD Roof Rack

So for an Overland with a few options added, the price was....

4114.00 plus tax(13%) plus installation 127.60 plus tax for a grand total of....

    $4793.01

for that much money I could buy a used motor home to follow me around...! lol

where can I find a better deal in Canuckistan?

I am going to buy a 2016 Tacoma SR 4x4 short bed. I had a 2010 Tacoma with a Leer 100r and I really liked it. It looked good on my 2010. I emailed the Leer dealer in Lees Summit Missouri and got this quote:

    100R $1269 installed
    Frontslider $65
(online coupon $50 off, or free headliner)
All Leer units carry a lifetime paint and lifetime structure warranty. We also cover the gas props for 5 years from purchase and one year on locks, seals, and windows. This price includes installation, clamps, wiring harness, and heavy duty bulb seal. If we can help give us a call.

LEER truck caps, also called truck toppers and camper shells, are constructed of strong, resilient fiberglass or tough non-corrosive aluminum. Most are the same height as the truck cab; some models are somewhat taller. Most can accommodate a roof rack, adding to their cargo-carrying capacity. Fiberglass camper shells are painted using formulas that match those originally used by the truck manufacturer, and preferred by residential customers. Aluminum caps are preferred by contractors, service technicians, and others working in rugged environments.

If we can help, please let us know. Leer has been in business for 35+ years, and is a leader in the industry. We are the largest Leer dealer in 4 states helping us to keep prices low. Any questions please give us a call.

    Thank You,
    Brad Weyrauch

Leer 100xr removable window, carpeted (standard at cap it ) . Interior dome light frame less rear window $3200 installed. I looked at the ARE and they seemed higher priced then the Leer and I thought the Leer looked cleaner.

Don't for get to check the manufacturerstatus Web page for freebies

No not yet...but 5 grand seems ridiculous when someone up thread bought the exact she'll for 2200 US.
Even with the exchange that is just over 3k CAN$...
A savings of almost 2k. Might be worth a drive indeed! I will shop around some more, and for now my solid fold 2.0 will suffice.

Hey, thats ottawa for ya! Shop around, action bs is overpriced for everything! Ive picked up all my caps at windmill truck caps down in elora near guelph. They have hundreds of used caps but obviously wont have used stuff for a 2016. They got me a new ARE once also. Google them, might be worth a call to see what they can do. It was worth the drive all 3 times for me.

    Why not a Soft Topper.

    $800 shipped to your door.

I'm never going back to a rigid cap.

Mine is 5 years old. Looks and works the same as when I got it.

No difference in comfort. Rigid or soft, they both are cold when it's cold and both are hot when it's hot.

The soft topper allows you to roll up the sides when it's hot. The breeze is awesome.
