Hi. I recently sold my much loved 1987 le 4by 4 van and bought a almost new Tacoma double cab off road truck.I'm still in mourning about the van sale and am having trouble getting used to the taco. First complaint is amount of technology to learn like 600 plus pages on the basic manual and the 200 plus pages on the tech stuff. I'm an older guy. 72 years plus who leaned to spell computer last week so the learning curve is creating brain fry.
Second thing is the ridiculous gas milage. Bad bad bad. Not sure how To address this other than with a siphon hose.
Third cocerns practically. It rains a bunch here in the northwest. I'm used with the van to just throwing stuff in the back and if I want to take a trip climbing in the back and going to sleep.
Fourth. Paranoia. New truck parking lots crazy drivers etc. Suddenly I've gone from a relaxed guy to. Mr freak out. Don't breathe on the truck, etc
Anyway you get my drift. I'm an old Toyota guy having had Toyota Hillis pick ups. Celicas, first generation 4 runners, corollas, celica supra, and 2 le vans

Get the first dent over with, after that they'll be less traumatic. That's what my co-worker said about my new-to-me truck...in 1987.

    Welcome to TW.

    Sorry about the van...

Gas mileage can kind of (not really) be improved: https://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/4-cylinder/34594-mpg-mods.html#post547096

You could also always get a camper shell, in case you wanna take a nap in the back.

Lastly, I hope you can relax and not have to worry about people messing up the truck. Hopefully after a while of actually owning it, you can treat it like a truck and not have to worry about it.

    Same as everybody else...
Welcome to the TW. The Tacoma is not known for great gas mileage, I usually get about 17mpg which is not much better than my son's 2017 Tundra. You'll get use to it, relax and enjoy the truck.
