Well here I go again. This one will be for the garage. I'm not sure what I'll do with the extra hose, but it was only a little more than the 25'.

Upped my laziness one more step. Installed a dump valve on my compressor. Now I can direct connect compressor to tires, monitor filling, stop compressor, and dump pressure to desired set point all from the driver's seat.

With this version 2, are you able to set the regulator to a desired *LOWER* tire pressure, then once connected to the tire valves it would drop to the set amount..
    For example:
-your tires are currently at 35psi.
-You plan to air down to 12psi.
-you Set regulator to 12 psi, then connect to tires and wait till the regulator stops hissing.. voila 12 psi ?!
    Haha asking for a friend
My impression is most basic regulators don't register until pressure is applied, and you +,- according after..

yep it works to do exactly that if you add the check valve so theres pressure on the reg. Just set the desired pressure before attaching the chucks to the tires (they are closed chucks so it'll contain pressure in the line to set to reg), then it'll deflate down to the pressure you chose. It wasn't super fast (or i'm impatient), but i'd bleed off some pressure with just an open line then attach the reg once you get closer.

An update to my @Shellshock Deflator / Inflator (SDI??). Version 1.3 maybe?

Just minor changes along the way. This time was to get a female coupler on the 300P with automagic mod:
    PXL_20201215_001714325.jpg

If folks go this route, you should check first. The Viair folks said that the thread was 1/4 NPT and was changed to M14x1.0. This was the adapter that I got. Not many of these adapters out there either as male / male or male / female. I already had a coupler with male NPT.

    Nice update

I wonder why they use that connector in the first place. With the non-automatic it makes since because someone could turn it on when not connected and it would continue to build pressure in the unit. For the Auto ones though it shouldn't matter. I guess it keeps parts common through the product line, like the coiled hoses with dual female ends.

I think it is the pressure thing. Their hose allows bypass when not connected to a valve stem. The deflate feature on their chuck was nice, but the chuck itself was horrible to use. If I didn't have an SDI kit already, I would have been making one.

I wonder if thats only certain compressors or newer ones or something. The 400p auto i had was 1/4npt... or it was close enough i didnt know the diff..

I think so. I was told that it was NPT and then sent a pic later. They replied with 'it looks like it was changed' and thanked me for noting it.

Did they have you update their engineering drawings for them also?

I’m pretty sure thats exactly how engineering diagrams look
