Looking to get a Sherpa Crows Nest rack for my long bed topper. Does anyone have experience with just the topper rack mounted without a cab rack? If so, do kayaks and other long items tie down without hitting the roof of the cab? Would love to see some pics of just a topper roof rack setup. Thanks!

I'm curious too. I never hear anything about it and curious if it will work well with a mx series

    First post.

I just picked up a forum member's truck, couldn't be more stoked. It came with an ARE MX canopy, and the Sherpa Crows Nest. Because of the lines of the MX series, which has a fairly aggressive taper towards the top, unless you get pretty narrow crossbars, it protrudes and doesn't quite sit flush-flush the way it looks in images. As far as looks, it sits outboard. I think mine has the 48" crossbars, and the one thing I might change about the truck (for now) is put something on it that has shorter crossbars, so it sits tighter to the shell.

Congrats on your score! Sounds awesome! Would you mind taking pictures of how the rack sits at different angles? There sure doesn't seem to be a whole out out there online and I'm curious how the 48" look. If they're as wide as you say perhaps the 43" would suit you better?

I’d go with narrower, but also - not comparing one bit. I got a hell of a truck.

It looks awesome! Thanks for the pix! I only see what you mean on the last photo about sticking out. Is that a 3rd gen taco? I'd love to see the whole truck if you want to show off!

fantastic truck! I love white trucks tbh. And third gens have an aggressive look that I like. And you got a full bed! I honestly think the rack looks fantastic on it. If it was mine I'm not sure I would change tbh.
I'm not sure how well it will look on a shortbed mx series but thank you for helping to give an idea!

I've also seen a lot more people with the prinsu topper (not on a mx series mind you but still) and I find that one to look worse than the pics you shown. It really sticks out imo!

measured my topper today and it's 4ft in length. It's on shortbed. while the pix are on a long bed. So my guess is there will be considerable overhang on mine since I don't think the Crows nest get's any shorter than 5ft

Another quick question for you if I may... is that the 5ft crows nest? Or is the length longer?
