It isn't necessary for a prinsu either. It's just more useless shit for suckers to buy.

That’s probably the best way to make it perfect. On my truck I just got the feet mounted, set the weather stripping on top and cut it to fit. It’s hidden by the rack so I didn’t really care haha. But I also have dents all over my truck, so I’m not the one to follow when it comes to making things perfect lol

So you are saying vs dropping them in on the sherpa I would have to unbolt the side rails to install a T nut each time?

No idea. I asked them on IG if they would make one for the sherpa and they responded with “never heard of her” as if they only respect prinsu or something. At least that’s how I took it.

True, but it is cool to add color, just not for the price they have them at

If you used the Prinsu hardware then probably yes. If you use Sherpa hardware you should be able to drop them in. Heres a pic I just grabbed from Prinsu's website. You can see the openings at the ends of the bars. Sherpa Racks don't have those.

I was thinking you could maybe use one of the Prinsu crossbars on a Sherpa but they Prinsu doesn't have a 48 inch crossbar. they have 47 for Tacomas and 48.5 for Landcrusers

The t nuts that sherpa provides drop into the slot. You do not need to remove the bars

I finally pulled the trigger and purchased the Grand Teton. I installed it on my truck 3 weeks ago.

So far it's been on a camping trip - which has been a game changer in the camping experience itself. The crossbars are solid, and for a first-time roof rack owner I've become very comfortable with this rack staying on my truck long term. I've tested it out on my local weekly trail runs both with & without loads (without shying away the gas pedal or the dips).

The rack is like a rock! Aesthetically, it's a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. I look forward to using this for many years. Thanks again for the thread & thank you Sherpa!

Mine is going on this weekend. I'm pumped to finally have good enough weather to not freeze my fingers off in the process.

I'm interested in the Crow's Nest. I didn't see much about it in this thread.

In particular, I'm curious if being further back (i.e. not over the cab) if the wind noise is less or less noticeable and if it has more or less impact on MPG vs an over the cab rack.

Also, will a 270 awning work on this?

Appreciate any feedback on this. Thanks.

Paired mine with the ROAM awning. A godsend against the hot summer sun out here in the desert...

I have a crows nest I installed last spring. I run a RTT most of the summer but when its off I don't hear the rack at all. I hear my factory cross bars WAYY more. I can't really tell you if it made an impact on MPG or not I would guess maybe a mile? It will support a 270 with their HD awning brackets or maybe if you doubled up on awning brackets. The cab rack has the wind faring so either way its going to make less noise.

I've got the Crow's Nest. Didn't notice any drop in mileage, and I don't hear any wind noise out of it. By way of comparison, I didn't hear any noise out of the Thule square crossbars I had on the shell either. No fairing on either one. Bought it second hand......was bare aluminum. One $14 can of bedliner later, perfection!

Installed my Grand Teton on Friday. Took me about 2.5 hours by myself including taking off my old "factory" rails. I had my girlfriend help just to align the wind faring. Very easy install. It would have taken me less time if I wasn't be very anal about the measurements side to side before I put on the side panels. Looks great and I can't wait for camping season.

Installed yesterday. Makes some noise, less than I expected. Thinking some adjustments might make it quiet down a little bit more even..IMG_20220424_195120.jpg IMG_20220424_195040.jpg

Looks like you have plenty of room to drop the wind fairing down. I started with mine right in the middle then I decided to drop it as low as it can go. At the lowest setting it is like a millimeter off the roof which I really like how ever It is so close that water wont drain under it so I am getting little dirt streaks in the middle, O well my truck is always dirty. I might move it up just a hair at some point.

It also looks like you can slide you're whole rack back a bit. Mine is sitting as far back as it can go in the channels for the load bars.

Got it centered and tightened down right around dark then figured I'd give it a few trips to work and back and then start fiddling with it. At present my rear bar is 1/4 inch in front of the antenna. I think if I change slots I may be able to move it further back.
